Designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam brings 70 designers to the Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival

On the afternoon of August 27, the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the Hanoi Women's Union, and the Hanoi Youth Union held a press conference on the Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival 2024. This is an activity to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024) and stimulate tourism in the last months of 2024.

Sharing at the event, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism - said that the Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2024 aims to develop and promote tourism in Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general.

At the same time, exploit and honor the traditional Vietnamese ao dai, so that the ao dai becomes a unique and attractive tourism product of Hanoi.

"The 2024 Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival is an activity to promote the image of the people of the capital, as a "Safe - friendly - quality - attractive destination", attracting people, domestic tourists and international friends. The event is also gradually positioning itself as an annual activity of Hanoi tourism", Mr. Minh emphasized.

The festival takes place from October 4 to 6 at the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center - Hanoi. The opening ceremony will take place on October 4 at the Doan Mon Square stage - Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center - Hanoi.

The highlight of the event is the art program The Essence of Ao Dai, consisting of 3 chapters: Golden History, Bridge of Interaction and Journey of Spread.

At the opening ceremony, designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam will open with a collection of ao dai called Luong Duyen . The collection includes 75 elaborately designed ao dai designs bearing the strong imprint of oriental fashion.

In the collection, Do Trinh Hoai Nam has recreated the meaningful historical journey of the land of the rising dragon (Thang Long), in which 25 designs of the five-panel men's ao dai have been modernized with the dragon motif as the main theme. In addition, the phoenix and lotus motifs are also cleverly incorporated into 50 other special ao dai designs.

Next, there was a performance of ao dai collections by designers such as: Duc Hung, Quang Hoa, Cao Minh Tien, Miss Ngoc Han, Thuy Nguyen, La Hang, Vu Thao Giang, Luu Quynh Lan...

On October 5, at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the Ao Dai Night program will take place, organized by the Hanoi Department of Tourism; Hanoi Women's Union in collaboration with the Vietnam Ao Dai Club.

As President of the Vietnam Ao Dai Club, designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam will gather more than 70 excellent designers from the North - Central - South regions representing nearly 10,000 students who graduated from the Ao Dai Cutting and Design program to present collections at the event.

Accordingly, the collections on display were inspired by famous heritages and majestic natural landscapes of Vietnam. The Ao Dai Night is a combination of musical theater, sound technology, 3D screen lighting and visual effects written and performed by the director Bao Ngoc's team.

At the 2024 Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival, designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam will launch a collection of five-panel ao dai for children.

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam said that through this collection, he hopes to bring traditional culture closer to young people. So that when they grow up, they will be imbued with the traditional culture of their ancestors.

"Our generation has experienced many disadvantages, born during the subsidy period, when the country was still facing many difficulties. When we were young, we only saw the brown ao dai and the silk ao dai of our grandparents when going to pagodas, village temples, or through movies and newspapers, but those images were not many.

I feel lucky to know the traditional values ​​that our ancestors created. I know that I need to cherish and promote those cultural heritages, so this time, I will design five-panel ao dai for both boys and girls," the Hanoi-born designer shared.

According to the Organizing Committee, within the framework of the festival, there will be a comprehensive art program of folk dance and carnival (street festival) Ao Dai for Women of the Capital to integrate and develop to spread the love of Ao Dai to a large number of people, friends and international tourists, of all ages and genders.

The Ao Dai performance program was organized in 579 communes, wards and towns in the city.

In addition, activities in response to the festival taking place from August to October 2024 include: "Check in Ha Noi" challenge with Ao Dai - challenge participants will take photos in Ao Dai at tourist attractions, historical and cultural relics, scenic spots... in Hanoi, with no restrictions on subjects or ages.
