- How did artist Thanh Dien feel when he received two People's Artist certificates alone?
I am very happy and pleased that both my husband and I have been awarded the title of People's Artist for our contributions to art over the past 60 years. This was also one of Thanh Kim Hue's greatest wishes during her lifetime.
However, when I received the title for her, my feelings were mixed, happy and sad. If my wife was by my side, the joy would have been doubled but it was a pity. Well, it was fate.
- However, there are also opinions that this joy comes a bit late for artist Thanh Kim Hue?
Many viewers also commented, saying that my husband and I are People's Artists in the hearts of the audience. That is the honor the audience gives us.
However, this noble title is still the State's recognition and recognition of our artistic contributions. Holding the title of both my husband and I in my hands, I am very happy and delighted.

- Have you gotten used to life without your beloved wife yet?
People say time will make sadness fade away but in reality it doesn't. It gets worse and worse. If I don't mention it, it's fine, but if I do, I'm so moved I can't speak. That's the reality. People say time will help you forget, I don't believe that.
- In daily life, is there any habit of People's Artist Thanh Kim Hue when he was alive that he still keeps?
Now, I still remember what Hue liked. My wife liked to write scripts, many of which were made into plays. When she was alive, she told me: "Honey, I like my scripts. If there is a request, try to make them, don't leave my scripts in the closet." That's my favorite saying, so I still try to fulfill her wish. Last year, I also re-made my wife's scripts for young artists to perform.
In real life, I used to kiss her every day before leaving the house. Until now, I still have that habit. I still kiss my wife's photo every morning. This is very private, a secret between the two of us, but I don't think it's bad. I think men should show those gestures to the wife they are attached to.
People's Artist Thanh Dien does not want to move on because he wants to keep his love for People's Artist Thanh Kim Hue.
Before she passed away, my wife expressed her wish for me to remarry, so that I would have someone to accompany me in my old age. However, I don’t think any woman really wants that. So even if Hue said so, I wouldn’t do it. I still want to keep my love for her forever. Moreover, my children also don’t agree because they love their mother very much.
- After leaving the house that you and your wife have been attached to for many years, how is your life now?
I live alone now, not with my children. Before my wife passed away, she told her children to take care of me. Every day, they still take care of me like when she was alive.
Thanh Kim Hue's real name is Bui Thi Hue, born in 1955 in Ho Chi Minh City. At the age of 14, Thanh Kim Hue was chosen to play the role of Lan in the recording of "Lan and Diep" by composer Loan Thao and became a singer loved by the audience.
She possesses a clear, resonant voice with a flexible singing style that easily creates sympathy in the listener.
