For the masks, the craftsmen will initially use cement molds to cover the paper with glue. The paper used to make the masks is mostly used, such as school books, old design paper, etc. After finishing, let the mask dry and remove it from the mold and let it dry completely. The dried papier-mâché masks will have a very solid shape, ready to be drawn and colored, and any excess details trimmed to finish. Every year, about a month and a half before the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, households making traditional Mid-Autumn toys like Mr. Huy's work day and night to produce in time for orders.
