In 2024, Thanh Hoa province aims to develop 120 new OCOP products, however, up to now, districts, towns and cities have only developed 52 OCOP products. Therefore, this is one of the important tasks, which is considered difficult to complete. Therefore, departments, branches and localities have been reviewing, supporting and encouraging production entities with potential products to develop according to the OCOP cycle to build more qualified products.

Identifying the development of effective and sustainable OCOP products as an important task, contributing to the shift in labor structure and economic development in rural areas, in recent times, Ngoc Lac district has promoted propaganda, support and encouraged entities to register to participate in developing potential products into OCOP products. Talking to us, Mr. Nguyen Trong Thanh, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ngoc Lac district, said: In order to effectively implement the OCOP Program, the district has actively coordinated with a number of departments, branches and related units to organize many training courses for OCOP specialized staff at the commune level and product entities with many key contents, such as: implementing production and business plans, developing OCOP products... In particular, the district assigned OCOP specialized staff to support entities in completing products as well as product evaluation and classification records. At the same time, combining funding from many programs, projects and local budgets to support 50 million VND/OCOP product with 3 stars or more. Thanks to that, up to now, the district has had 13 3-star OCOP products, the products have been effective, have strong consumption in the market, and become the driving force for economic development in rural areas.
After being reviewed by the locality, Minh Huong Vermicelli Production Facility of Mr. Trinh Ngoc Minh's household, Lam Son commune is one of the entities selected to develop new OCOP products of Ngoc Lac district in 2024. Therefore, the entity has been supported by Lam Son commune, creating favorable conditions for investment in new construction, upgrading, and repairing infrastructure; purchasing machinery and equipment for production; building brands, establishing packaging - labels, product traceability stamps, product quality inspection... According to the plan, in 2024, in addition to focusing on maintaining and improving the quality of 13 products that have been recognized as meeting OCOP standards, Ngoc Lac district will continue to provide financial support for cooperatives, cooperative groups, and individual households to develop at least 3 new OCOP products. However, up to now, the district has not had any new OCOP products. Therefore, Ngoc Lac district will continue to coordinate and synchronously deploy many solutions to complete the set goals.
A survey in many localities in the province shows that although there are many products that are assessed to have the potential to develop into OCOP products, the production scale is still small, the investment in machinery and equipment is limited, so the design is simple, the product quality does not meet the requirements of the program and large markets... Mr. Phan Xuan Hung, Head of the OCOP Management Team (under the Office of the New Rural Development Program Coordination), said: "For a product to be certified as OCOP, it not only requires the participation of the State management agency in supporting the subject with funding to invest in equipment, machinery, and infrastructure, but also the efforts and flexibility of the production subject. Because they are the ones who come up with ideas and product stories to create uniqueness, distinction and competitiveness for their products. Therefore, in the task of training and coaching on the OCOP Program, we always integrate content and activities to stimulate the creativity of the subject. At the same time, support subjects in promoting trade promotion activities, product promotion, connecting consumer markets in many forms... so that the development of OCOP products is not only completed in quantity but also ensures the goals, effectiveness and meaning of the program".
In 2024, Thanh Hoa province strives to develop 120 new OCOP products; in which, each unit develops from 2 to 8 new OCOP products. However, in the first 9 months of the year, only 52 products of 10 district-level units were recognized, reaching 43.3% of the plan. Therefore, the tasks until the end of the year are still quite complicated, requiring the active and drastic participation of departments, branches and localities. In the direction and tasks for the last months of the year, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial New Rural Development Program Coordination Office and related departments, branches and units to promote propaganda about the importance of the OCOP Program; train, coach and improve the capacity of management staff at all levels, consulting teams and subjects participating in the program; advise and guide subjects to complete and upgrade products participating in the evaluation and ranking of provincial OCOP products... At the same time, promote trade promotion, advertise and market products in many forms, such as: fairs, exhibitions, displays at conferences... so that the development of new OCOP products ensures goals and plans while still improving and promoting the effectiveness and sustainability of the program.
