Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade held a graduation ceremony for students but delayed the issuance of diplomas due to the school's name change process.
According to reports, more than 1,000 students and trainees of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade have completed their study program but have not yet received their graduation certificates.
Speaking with Thanh Nien Newspaper reporter, Dr. Thai Doan Thanh, Vice Principal of the school, confirmed the above incident.
According to Dr. Thanh, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade was allowed by the Prime Minister to change its name from Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry starting from July 1 this year. In 2023, the school will have two graduation ceremonies for students, the first ceremony was held under the old school's name.
In the second phase, the school has more than 1,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students graduating. According to the schedule, the school will award degrees in December under the new name. However, due to the school name change, the design and printing of new diploma templates has been delayed. The school is currently completing the diploma templates to promptly issue them to students in January 2024. The awarding of graduation certificates in this second phase is delayed by 1 month compared to the original schedule.
Also according to the Vice Principal of the University of Industry and Trade, on December 23, the school held a pre-graduation ceremony for students. During the ceremony, the school informed that students will receive their diplomas in January 2024.
Earlier, in early July, the Deputy Prime Minister signed a decision to change the name of Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry to Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade. The second batch of students and graduates this year are the first to receive degrees under the new school name.
