The happiness of becoming parents after 11 years of waiting of a border soldier couple

More than a decade of searching for a child by border guard Vang A Chua and H'Mong girl Ly Thi Xia has now been rewarded with the happiness of welcoming two adorable little angels.

The once lonely little house is now filled with children's laughter, ending the most desperate emotions on the journey to find her child.

Major Vang A Chua, Border Guard of Muong Muon Border Post, Dien Bien and Ms. Ly Thi Xia got married in 2012, but there was no good news.

It was thought that due to the nature of his job, he often had to travel far away and his short leave time meant that the couple had little time to be together. After 5 years of marriage, there was still no news of their child.

They all sought out advice about fertility drugs. Their small kitchen was filled with medicines, associated with their desire for a complete family.

As the eldest sons in their families, Mr. Chua and Ms. Xia not only faced pressure from relatives but also faced social prejudice, where childlessness is often blamed on women.

Every time she steps out of the house, Xia hears familiar questions from her neighbors: Why don’t you have children? Why do you look healthy and not sick but still don’t have any? As for her, she always blames herself and wonders, when will she be able to become a mother?

For all those years, they always dreaded family gatherings, not knowing how to respond to relatives and friends. They used the excuse of being busy at work to avoid going home, to avoid facing the pain and uncertainty.

However, the dream of becoming parents still burned in their hearts. They overcame all economic barriers, gossip, and always saved money to find a child.

Every 2 years, they save up some money, if not enough, they borrow from friends to go to Hanoi for examination and seek scientific intervention.

Although they had been treated in many places from 2015 to 2019, going through 2 IUIs and 2 IVFs, luck still did not smile on them. Each failure made the atmosphere in the small house heavier.

Thinking that the door to finding a child had closed, Mr. Chua and Ms. Xia were lucky to receive a 100% free support package for IVF costs from the Hanoi Andrology and Infertility Hospital in the "Spreading Love" support program for infertile soldiers in 2021.

While others would be delighted to receive a free support package, Xia intended to give it to another couple. Fears of past failures still haunted her. However, her husband's encouragement and her motherly instincts urged her to agree.

The couple continued their journey to find their child, from Dien Bien to Hanoi, overcoming the feeling of motion sickness and the long distance. This time, they decided to try for the fifth time.

After the embryo transfer, they stayed in Hanoi to wait for the results. When they received the good news that Ms. Xia was pregnant after 11 years of waiting, they could not believe it.

Ms. Xia clasped her hands and turned to her husband, asking, “Honey, is this true?” Mr. Chua looked at his wife with an indescribable feeling of elation: “You just need to eat well, I’ll take care of everything.” At that moment, they both shed tears, but they were tears of happiness, because they finally had that fragile belief.

Mr. Chua and Ms. Xia never dared to expect too much, but this time they received double the good news - they welcomed twins. Major Vang A Chua could not hide his joy, thanking the doctors, thanking the Hanoi Andrology and Infertility Hospital for letting my wife and I become parents.

As time passed, they gradually got closer to the day of welcoming their children. The first times they saw the ultrasound images of their two growing angels, and talked to them every day, they felt that all the previous hardships were completely worth it.

The day Xia had a stomachache waiting to give birth, Chua worriedly paced back and forth outside the delivery room. When he first held his two children in his arms, he cried. Finally, after 10 years of searching for his children, he officially became the father of two adorable children.

As the wife of a border guard, Ms. Xia often had to endure loneliness when her husband was away from home. She remembers the long days alone in the house, just sitting silently and watching the children in the family play. “Seeing the children asking for their mother to hold them, asking their father to buy them candy, I felt so sad,” Ms. Xia shared.

But now, with the appearance of two little angels, the loneliness of the past is gone. The small house is filled with the laughter of children.

You learn how to take care of your baby, from bathing them to learning from friends and relatives so you don't feel overwhelmed. Each day is too short to enjoy wonderful moments with your children.

“Looking back on our journey of infertility treatment over the past decade, my husband and I love each other even more. There were tears and happiness, but time has proven that all our efforts were worth it,” said Mr. Chua, beaming with joy.

11 years of waiting for a child with so much sadness and despair are now put away in memory. They welcome new happiness - the happiness of a complete family life with two young children.
