According to reporters' records during recent heavy rains, streets frequently flooded in Vinh City include: Lenin Avenue, 72-meter road, Truong Thi, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Phong Dinh Cang, Le Hong Phong, Hong Bang...

For example, Le Nin Avenue, this is a major street in Vinh City, however, it is often flooded when there is prolonged heavy rain, the most serious of which is the section from Vinh airport intersection to Nghe An General Hospital and the section from the intersection with Nguyen Sy Sach Street to the customs roundabout.
By noon on November 13, the water on some roads had receded, however, on Lenin Avenue, near the Vinh airport intersection, the water was still frozen. According to research, the drainage system on Lenin Avenue is connected to the North Canal. In 2021, Vinh City invested in 4 more discharge outlets on this road, however, due to heavy rainfall, the collection pits are often clogged with garbage and leaves, leading to very slow drainage.
Faced with that situation, Vinh City has a plan to divide the drainage basin on Le Nin Street. Accordingly, instead of draining along a fixed route from National Highway 46 to the North Canal, the city will renovate an additional drainage route running along the 24-meter planned route (next to Hospital 115) to Nghi Phu regulating lake. Drainage will be faster when there are 2 drainage routes operating in parallel.

Similar to Lenin Avenue, 72-meter road is also one of the frequently flooded roads in Vinh City. Nghi Phu Commune authorities said that 72-meter road is located in a low-lying area, so water from other areas flows in. Although the drainage system has been connected to Lenin Avenue, poor drainage on Lenin Road has caused water to continuously back up on 72-meter road.
Phong Dinh Cang Street, running along Hung Dung, Ben Thuy, Truong Thi wards..., is flooded every time it rains heavily. Ben Thuy Ward authorities said that the locality has repeatedly requested the city, departments, and construction units to upgrade the drainage system on this street, however, it has not been implemented yet.

Meanwhile, roads such as Nguyen Van Cu, Nguyen Tai, Ho Tung Mau, Le Duan, Quang Trung, Le Mao, Tran Phu... still ensure good drainage during recent heavy rains.
A representative of the Vinh City Project Management Board said: From 2022 to now, Vinh City has focused on upgrading and renovating the drainage system on many roads such as Duy Tan, Le Hoan, Le Duan, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Hong Bang, Nguyen Van Cu (from Le Hong Phong to Nguyen Sy Sach...).

Some roads are being renovated, including Nguyen Thi Minh Khai (from the Devil's Triangle roundabout to Le Loi Street), Le Hong Phong Street... for Phong Dinh Cang Street, there is currently a project and construction has not yet begun. For the 72-meter routes and Le Nin Avenue, the province and city will continue to upgrade and renovate the drainage system on these two major roads.
"In addition to the weather factor, the current situation is that some water drainage routes are slow because the mouths of the collection pits are blocked by garbage and leaves... Therefore, on days of heavy rain, the environmental company, urban infrastructure company, wards and communes and local people join hands to collect garbage at the collection pits, the flood water will drain faster...", said Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phong - Director of Vinh City Project Management Board.
