From the story of an employee enjoying "dual" benefits

Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen (SEVT) and Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) factories in Bac Ninh are considered the largest phone manufacturing bases of Samsung in Vietnam. According to Mr. Park Sung Ho, General Director of Samsung Electronics Vietnam - Thai Nguyen, the two factories operate according to the SMART motto with three goals: People are number 1 - Products are number 1 - Environment is number 1.

“SMART focuses on the aspects of S-Study on training and learning for employees, M-Mind on positive thinking, innovation and creativity, A-Action on actions to prepare for the future, R-Relationship on co-prosperity development, T-Target on creating a good and safe working environment for employees,” added Mr. Park Sung Ho.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Cuc (32 years old, Bac Giang ) and some friends applied for a job because they heard that "Samsung has good benefits and salary". When she became an employee of SEV factory, Ms. Cuc witnessed, experienced and felt the things she had heard and then she has been attached to SEV factory in Bac Ninh for the past 14 years.

“When I became a Samsung employee, I felt exactly as everyone said, and I also received many gifts every Tet holiday or special occasion. Samsung also has a clear salary and bonus system, which helps me stabilize my family's finances . My husband and I are both currently Samsung employees,” said Ms. Cuc.

One special thing about Ms. Cuc is that she is pregnant and raising a child under 1 year old. Therefore, she enjoys a "double" regime: she is assigned a lighter job, is allowed to work on the production line for pregnant employees (Mommy Line), is given priority at all times and places in the company, is allowed to take maternity leave... at the same time, she is allowed to use the Mommy Room, the resting area and leave early according to the regime for female employees with young children.

According to Samsung Vietnam, in 2023 alone, more than 8,500 employees reported pregnancy at the units. Therefore, Samsung has built a system of priority policies for this group. According to Mr. Park Sung Ho, the welfare policies for female employees who are pregnant and raising young children come from the sympathy and understanding of the leadership for employees who fulfill their motherhood role. Therefore, in addition to complying with legal regulations, Samsung also allows pregnant employees to take maternity leave with 50% of their salary while still participating in Social Insurance until they receive maternity benefits; employees are able to participate in an intensive Maternity Training Course with topics such as pregnancy, prenatal education, childbirth, childcare, being a good mother, etc.

Increase employee happiness with high compensation

Not only does Samsung have excellent benefits for female employees, it is also implementing a welfare policy system aimed at becoming a business with the leading overall benefits in Vietnam.

According to Samsung Vietnam, the most basic regime is competitive salary with the lowest monthly salary being 1.5 times higher than the minimum wage as prescribed, not to mention the company still conducts annual salary adjustments and maintains full bonus regimes even during the Covid-19 pandemic and when the economy has faced many difficulties in recent years.

In production areas, it is not difficult to see the slogan "Environmental safety is the No. 1 Principle in business". Samsung always prioritizes building a safe working environment for employees. To achieve that, in addition to implementing activities in compliance with Vietnamese law such as annual periodic monitoring of the working environment to monitor working conditions, Samsung also builds its own management process. Samsung operates a 24/7 working environment monitoring team, ensuring that the measurement factors of odor, dust, noise, light, temperature, humidity, etc. are always better than the general standards prescribed by Vietnamese law.

One special thing about Samsung is that mental health is considered as important as physical health. Mr. Le Tung Bach, Director of SEVT Labor Relations Department, said: “We understand that healthy and happy human resources are the key to the success and stability of any business. For each individual employee, having mental comfort and happy experiences at home, in the community and at work is the foundation for enjoying a meaningful life, thereby helping employees strive to contribute, create value and contribute to the overall success of the business”.

Samsung has recruited 18 psychologists with in-depth training in psychology. Along with that, there is a team of nearly 5,900 psychological consultants (Gate Keepers) who regularly interview and organize sharing sessions with employees, in order to promptly refer employees in need of psychological counseling to experts for timely support.

The results of Samsung's efforts are not only reflected in the recognition by Vietnamese and international agencies and organizations, but also in the long-term commitment and dedication of a large number of employees to create made-by-Samsung-in-Vietnam products.
