According to information from the National Library of Vietnam, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, the Book and Reading Culture Day 2025 took place at the National Library of Vietnam on April 19 with a particularly meaningful theme: "Each page of a book - A source of pride", to affirm the great role of books in enriching knowledge, nurturing the soul, and evoking pride in national history.
Accordingly, each page of the book is a journey to discover traditional values and glorious feats that have shaped the Vietnamese identity, becoming a bridge between the glorious past and the beautiful present, inspiring every Vietnamese person to love and appreciate the achievements of previous generations and to constantly cultivate knowledge to build an increasingly prosperous and developed country.
In particular, within the framework of Book Day, the Great Victory of Spring 1975 Exhibition will take place through the pages of books introducing and displaying 800 books, organized according to 04 main contents: The strategic vision of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh in the resistance war against American imperialism; Great Victory of Spring 1975: The intellectual strength of Vietnam and the desire for peace; People who made history; The country is full of joy and achievements after 50 years of liberation.
At the exhibition space, delegates and visitors have the opportunity to access original, unique documents currently being kept and preserved at the National Library through two forms: Visual display with vivid visual content; Digital document projection and Digital interactive display providing new ways to explore books, newspapers and databases...
Many other activities such as discussion programs, author and work exchanges: program introducing 2 typical works of the People's Army Publishing House: "Red Rain" by writer Chu Lai and "In the Whirlwind" by writer Khuat Quang Thuy.
The program features writers, literary critics, screenwriters and historical witnesses of the resistance war against the US to save the country. Through the content of the two works and the sharing from the speakers and historical witnesses, readers and the public will have the opportunity to understand more deeply the harshness but also the heroic years of war, to appreciate, be proud of and preserve the precious historical and cultural traditions of the nation.
In addition, a painting contest based on the book with the theme "The Country is Full of Joy" was held, providing students with a meaningful playground, thereby contributing to the formation of personality, ethics and a positive lifestyle, while nurturing love for the homeland, expressing deep gratitude to previous generations - those who heroically fought for the cause of national liberation and reunification.
The story-telling contest based on books with the theme "Vietnam in my heart" through reading and retelling stories from books, not only arouses national pride, deepens understanding of historical values, the stature of the Southern Liberation Day, national reunification (April 30, 1975), but also contributes to nurturing a love of reading, encouraging children to appreciate, preserve and protect books as a priceless intellectual asset, and at the same time be proud of the achievements that our ancestors have worked hard to build.
Also on April 19, at the National Library of Vietnam, many meaningful activities took place such as reading the book "Stories of Heroes", with familiar characters in the world of childhood, not only helping children perceive values such as courage and perseverance, but also contributing to the formation of good moral qualities; Game show "Journey following the footsteps"; Experiential activity "Memory notebook - Soldier's story" instructing participants to make their own notebook bearing the mark of a soldier in the past and copying in it diary excerpts containing passionate patriotism, collected in the works "Forever 20" by Nguyen Van Thac, "Dang Thuy Tram's Diary", "Le Anh Xuan's Diary", "Chu Cam Phong's Battle Diary"...
Through its activities, Book and Reading Culture Day 2025 will contribute to encouraging and developing the reading movement, raising people's awareness of the great significance and importance of reading, building reading habits in families, schools, agencies, organizations and communities. At the same time, it will discover and honor organizations and individuals who have contributed to the development of books and reading culture in society.
