This morning, April 25, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) organized a scientific workshop to orient and promote the development of the innovative startup ecosystem in Quang Tri province until 2025.

Speaking at the workshop, the leader of the Department of Science and Technology said that since the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 844/QD-TTg dated May 18, 2016 on supporting the innovative startup ecosystem (IEC) until 2025, Quang Tri province has promptly approached IEC startup activities.
Many plans and solutions to build an innovative startup ecosystem have been organized and implemented. With its role, the department has done a good job of advising, propagating, and disseminating information and knowledge about innovation.
Since 2020, the Innovation Startup Competition has become an annual activity. Over the past 4 years, the competition has attracted a total of 91 ideas and projects. Through the province's policies, many innovation startup projects and ideas and science and technology enterprises have been supported promptly and effectively.
Up to now, the activities to support innovative startups have spread to many departments, branches, localities, organizations and individuals in the area. Some schools in the province have actively responded, participated and coordinated to build many plans to support startups associated with innovative startups.
Organizations, unions, and businesses have also been connected to accompany and organize many activities to support startups. The transformation of innovative startup activities in the province has encouraged and strongly aroused the entrepreneurial spirit among local officials and people.

However, in the face of many difficulties, the construction of an innovative startup ecosystem in Quang Tri still has many limitations. Currently, the number of startups, especially innovative startups in the area is still small. The level of technology adoption and mastery by organizations and individuals is not as expected. Technical factors, technological skills, and innovative startup skills of human resources are still low...
From the above reality, the Scientific Workshop on orientation and promotion of the province's innovative startup ecosystem to 2025 received much attention and expectation.
At the workshop, delegates exchanged and discussed in depth the following issues: how to promote and develop the innovative startup ecosystem; solutions to help form and support the construction of effective startup incubators and co-working spaces; exchange experiences in supporting startup projects and ideas and forming technology villages...
In particular, many experts, managers and businesses have analyzed and clarified the causes; contributed ideas and supplemented general orientations; and suggested a number of solutions to build the province's innovative startup ecosystem in the coming time.
Some notable opinions are: it is necessary to build a startup education program; build typical examples and spread the startup spirit; promote the role of heads of units and enterprises in innovation; multiply the startup aspirations of Quang Tri youth; create synchronization in mechanisms, policies and consensus among each citizen to help build a successful startup ecosystem...

Also at the workshop, the leaders of the Department of Science and Technology launched the 5th Quang Tri Innovation Startup Competition in 2024. The competition is expected to be held from April and end in September; The Organizing Committee will summarize and award prizes in October 2024. The competition encourages startup ideas and projects in industries and fields that follow the development orientation of the province and have high technology applications.
For potential ideas and projects that meet all the prescribed conditions, the Organizing Committee of the competition will propose to the Provincial People's Committee to consider, approve, and place orders through the implementation of provincial or grassroots science and technology tasks and incubation into innovative start-up enterprises.
