Many international aid shipments support Vietnam to overcome storm No. 3

Switzerland expressed condolences for the loss of life and property that Vietnam is suffering, and expressed its readiness to stand side by side with Vietnam in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters in the coming time.

Regarding human resources, Switzerland has sent a delegation of 8 experienced experts in the fields of clean water, sanitation, safe houses, etc. to conduct surveys and in-depth research on the needs of Yen Bai province; and propose appropriate reconstruction plans.

In terms of material resources, Switzerland has sent to Vietnam nearly 26 tons of goods, with an estimated value of about CHF 361,140 (equivalent to about VND 10.5 billion), including equipment, safe home systems, and clean water and sanitation. In addition, Swiss experts will come to support the installation and instruct the locals on how to use the equipment.

Right at Noi Bai Airport, Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee Tran Huy Tuan received the goods from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and directed provincial agencies to develop a plan to distribute them to people in areas affected by storm No. 3 and post-storm floods.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control Nguyen Van Tien, up to now, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has received aid shipments from many international organizations and countries.

Specifically, there is 1 shipment from the Australian Government, 3 shipments from the ASEAN Regional Coordinating Center for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management, 1 shipment from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), 1 shipment from the Indian Government and 1 shipment from the Swiss Government.

After receiving the goods, they were transported and delivered to the provinces of Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, and Lang Son for distribution to the people. It is expected that this afternoon and evening, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will receive additional aid shipments from the Samaritan Purse Organization.
