On the evening of December 24, people from all over Ho Chi Minh City flocked to churches and entertainment centers to celebrate Christmas.
Especially in the city center, Notre Dame Cathedral (District 1) attracts a lot of young people to check-in and wait in line to enter the church for mass.
Young people gathered in front of Notre Dame Cathedral early to have fun and check-in with the interior space decorated with sparkling lights.
Dieu Thuy (District 7) shared that, joining in the Christmas Eve atmosphere, Thuy also went out to the streets to have fun and watch the city's brilliant lights.
"Notre Dame Cathedral is my favorite place because it is beautifully decorated and has an ancient feel. Unfortunately, the church is closed, so I can't go inside to attend the ceremony tonight. I have to stand outside and pray," Thuy said.
The church has a sign announcing that mass is being held inside and visitors are not allowed to enter.
Many young people arrived early, sitting on the lawn in front of the church in the hope of getting in to attend the ceremony and visit on Christmas Eve.
At 11pm, many young people were still waiting outside the church. This year, Notre Dame Cathedral was decorated with LED lights covering the two tall towers in front, creating a highlight that made young people excited to come and check in.
At nearly midnight, many young people and tourists were still lining up in front of Notre Dame Cathedral in the hope of getting inside to attend the ceremony.
The church representative announced to the public the reason for not opening. It is known that mass is being held inside and the church is full, so it cannot open to welcome visitors.
Unable to go inside, many people had to take souvenir photos outside and stand praying in front of the church gate.
