Male student found 400 million VND and returned it to the owner

On January 10, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hai An - Chief of Go Cong Tay District Police, Tien Giang Province - said that Thanh Tri Commune Police had coordinated to return 400 million VND to the person who lost it.

According to Lieutenant Colonel An, at around 9:30 a.m. on January 9, male student Phan Vo Thanh Phat (19 years old, residing in Thanh Tri commune, Go Cong Tay district, Tien Giang province) was sitting in front of his house and saw a bag of documents on the side of the road.

Phat picked up and checked inside, there were some papers and citizen identification card with the name Nguyen Cong Trong (45 years old, residing in An Thanh Thuy commune, Cho Gao district, Tien Giang province) and 400 million VND in cash.

Phat brought all the money and documents to Thanh Tri Commune Police Station to report and ask them to find the person who lost them to return them.

After receiving the property from Phat, Thanh Tri Commune Police verified that the owner of the lost property and documents was Mr. Trong. Afterwards, Thanh Tri Commune Police and Phat returned the documents and money to Mr. Trong.

It is known that Phat is a first-year mechanical engineering student at a vocational college in Ho Chi Minh City and is returning to his hometown to review for his semester exams.

Talking to Tuoi Tre Online , Phat said that when he opened the file bag, he saw 400 million VND in cash and some personal documents in Mr. Trong's name inside.

"I think if I put myself in the position of someone who lost such a large amount of money, I would be very worried and insecure. It would definitely take a lot of effort to make this money. If I use this money, I would also be breaking the law. My parents and teachers always told me that when I find something lost, I must find the person who returned it," Phat shared.
