"The White Shirt Trio" is a popular music group formed by three siblings Tuyet Ngan, Minh Ta, and Minh Tha.
Mentioning the White Shirt Trio is mentioning the childhood of many generations of audiences. The members include 3 biological sisters: the oldest sister Tuyet Ngan and the twin sisters Minh Thu - Minh Tu.
The three sisters loved singing since childhood, often participating in musical activities at the Children's House in Ho Chi Minh City. They were also familiar faces in the program Little Flowers of Ho Chi Minh City Television in the early 90s.

In 1992, Tuyet Ngan, Minh Thu and Minh Tu participated in the Radio Singing Contest in Ho Chi Minh City and won first prize. At that time, the group did not have a name yet. After the contest, the three sisters formed a singing group with the support of the musician group "The Friends". And from here, the White Shirt Trio also appeared, created by musician Nguyen Van Hien (member of the Friends group) by chance.
Sharing with VTC News reporter, musician Nguyen Van Hien confided that although many years have passed, this is still an unforgettable memory for him.
Recalling that time, musician Nguyen Van Hien said: "At that time, our group "Friends" used the premises of the Youth Cultural House to set up a stage. Every night, our club had a program to interact with the audience. Every Monday night was the time for professional singers to rest. Therefore, we organized the program "A time in white shirt" - the theme of singing songs about school age".
Musician Nguyen Van Hien is the one who named the White Shirt Trio.
The musician said that at this time, he needed to find new voices to sing songs about school age. Because he wanted the children to have a stage to develop their talents, he encouraged the club members to focus on writing songs for young people. At that time, the three sisters Tuyet Ngan, Minh Thu and Minh Tu were also active in the cultural house and had good singing ability. Musician Nguyen Van Hien decided to keep them to perform every Monday night.
"Because the three sisters always wore white shirts, I randomly called them the White Shirt Trio. I thought the name was cute, so I named the group that from then on. To me, the White Shirt Trio contributed greatly to promoting songs about school age. That period was also the most prosperous time for songs about school age," the musician shared.
Thanks to this support, the White Shirt Trio performs new songs every week. The group practices hard to sing live and perfect their stage skills. Songs associated with the group's name include: Into the summer, A time to remember, Far away street, Gentle street corner, Tet holiday in my hometown, Oh spring...
Musician Nguyen Van Hien also said that in addition to the White Shirt Trio, his Friends group also helped and supported songs for the groups Mat Ngoc and May Trang to perform.

In the program The Khang Show , singer Tuyet Ngan also told about this special memory. For the female singer, the name Tam Ca Ao Trang came to the group by chance. "When we stepped onto the stage, Mr. Nguyen Van Hien immediately introduced the name Tam Ca Ao Trang when he saw the singers appear in flowing white ao dai. Musician Trinh Cong Son sitting in the audience applauded, praising the cute name. Since then, this name has been associated with the singing career of the three sisters," she said.
At the peak of their career, the White Shirt Trio suddenly stopped. The three members of the White Shirt Trio decided to retire to build their own families. In 2002, Minh Tu got married and had a child, followed by Minh Thu (in 2003) and Tuyet Ngan (in 2005).

After getting married, the group almost stopped working. The members of the White Shirt Trio all settled abroad and changed their business direction. Although they are not active in music, the White Shirt Trio sisters still live and perform at church. The twins Minh Tu and Minh Thu also occasionally sing in some special programs.
Sharing the reason for leaving showbiz, Tuyet Ngan once confided that each member has their own life, and does not want to divide their time between their children and art. In a music group, arranging the time of all 3 members at the same time is also difficult. However, the group always cherishes the glorious years, the love of the audience and accepts the rule "old bamboo, young bamboo grows".
