It's still more than a month until Lunar New Year, but the atmosphere is already bustling in the kumquat village of Cam Ha commune (Hoi An, Quang Nam), the kumquat capital of Central Vietnam.

At nearly 12 noon on December 18, Ms. Than Thi Thanh Tam and her husband, Mr. Minh, in Bau Oc village, Cam Ha commune (Hoi An) lingered in the kumquat garden.
"The whole year is spent waiting for this last month. Success or failure depends on this month. Kumquat growers are all anxiously watching the trees to deliver to traders.
"Thank goodness this year, kumquat trees are stable, prices have increased a little. Especially now, most of the gardeners have customers coming to put down deposits, just worry about taking good care of the trees and everything will be fine" - said Mrs. Tam standing in the middle of the kumquat garden.
This year, Mrs. Tam and her husband's kumquat garden is considered beautiful, with figs. Mrs. Tam's two gardens have a total of nearly 1,700 pots. With an average price of over 1 million VND/pot, Mrs. Tam said she will have a revenue of around 2 billion VND.
According to Ms. Tam, because the flower, peach, and kumquat growing areas in the North were affected by floods, affecting output for the Tet market, this year traders came to Cam Ha to learn and close orders very early.

Ms. Nguyen Thi An, owner of a 400-pot kumquat garden in Cam Ha, said that this year the price increased by about 100,000 - 200,000 VND/pot.
Traders come early to make deals, gardeners are focusing on taking care of the trees so that they can deliver the goods around the 10th of December. Trucks from everywhere will flock to Cam Ha to deliver kumquats to the whole country.
"This year the weather is not too harsh so kumquat trees are okay. This Tet, people can generally grow kumquat trees," said Ms. An.
"At this time of year, there are no customers, but in the past half month, traders from everywhere have come to see the garden and put down deposits. This year, kumquat prices are likely to be high because Hanoi and the northern provinces are short of goods, and peach growing areas have been damaged by floods. People in Hoi An are hoping to sell for high prices," said Mr. Nguyen Ben, Ben Tre village, Cam Ha commune (Hoi An city).
Cam Ha is the largest kumquat growing area in the Central region with a capacity to supply the Tet market of about 60,000 - 80,000 pots. Kumquats are brought to Binh Dinh, Quang Ngai, Quang Binh...
In addition to kumquat trees, people also grow flowers, take care of apricot trees, and organize many specialty markets made from kumquat fruit and leaves.
