The family said poet Hoang Cat passed away at 4:15 p.m. on July 1, at the age of 82.
"Suspicions" with Hoang Cat
Hoang Cat is the 'you' in the famous poem Sea by Xuan Dieu, with passionate verses about a burning love.
Previously, the love affair between Xuan Dieu and Hoang Cat was known only to people in the literary world.
But recently, when society has become more open to same-sex love, poet Hoang Cat once confided in the newspaper about the "love affair" between the two.
He admitted that there was a special love between the two, especially from Xuan Dieu's side.
As for him, he just loved, loved a lot, and pampered the "king of love poems".
Xuan Dieu was also Hoang Cat's very strict poetry teacher, and also the person who supported Hoang Cat a lot in his life of hardship and suffering for literature and poetry.
Fate brought Hoang Cat to meet poet Xuan Dieu in 1958, when he started writing prose and poetry. From here began a deep love affair from poet Xuan Dieu.
The love story of the two was once a "mystery" in the literary world.
In 1965, Hoang Cat entered the Thua Thien - Hue battlefield, was then wounded, discharged from the army and returned to Hanoi, continuing to compose from 1971.
He was admitted to the Vietnam Writers Association in 1994 and published dozens of books, mainly poetry.

Poet Hoang Cat was born in 1942 in Hung Tien commune, Nam Dan district, Nghe An province. After graduating from Hanoi Electromechanical College, he worked as a worker at Tran Hung Dao Mechanical Factory, Hanoi.
Here, he began to write prose and poetry.
He has published poetry collections such as Long January, Blue Star, Autumn – Love of Life, Then Live, Thank You Sidewalk, Serenity … and the short story collection Xin’s Love Story .
Remembering poet Hoang Cat, writer Nguyen Quang Lap called him an example of a poor but happy lifestyle in the literary world.
The funeral of poet Hoang Cat will be held at 10:30 a.m. on July 4 at the funeral home of Thanh Nhan Hospital (42 Thanh Nhan, Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi).
The memorial service and funeral were held at 12 noon the same day. He was buried at Quan Den cemetery (Nhan Chinh, Hanoi).
