After more than 5 years of restoration efforts, Notre-Dame Cathedral revealed its new appearance to the world public on November 29, bringing hope and pride not only to the French people but also to all of humanity.

Reborn from the rubble of the 2019 fire disaster, this great work has returned to its splendor and majesty, demonstrating the power of unity and the aspiration to restore a cultural heritage of international stature.

On November 29, French President Emmanuel Macron, his wife Brigitte and several religious officials visited Notre Dame Cathedral to inspect the restoration work. This was the first time the public had a chance to see the interior of the rebuilt Notre Dame Cathedral.

Live footage shows the vast space, with shimmering lights shining through stained glass windows, illuminating the sacred space inside.

The scorch marks have been replaced with new stones, the ceilings have been rebuilt with intricate details and golden angels shine from the center.

President Macron could not hide his surprise as he entered through the giant doors and looked up at the restored ceilings. He noted that the cathedral was now even more beautiful than before, thanks to the shine of the golden stones and the freshness of the chapels.

"This restoration project, a challenge that many considered impossible, is now a reality," Mr Macron affirmed.

In addition to recreating architectural details, the cathedral has also been fitted with a new system to protect against future fires. In an ingenious mechanism, water pipes will automatically spray millions of drops of water in the event of an accident.

This restoration project is not only a symbol of French resilience, but also a testament to global solidarity.

The total cost of the project is nearly 700 million euros (more than 739 million USD), funded mainly by 846 million euros in donations from 150 countries around the world.

Some 2,000 people, from woodworkers, metalworkers, stonemasons, masons, craftsmen, engineers, and researchers, worked to restore the cathedral. President Macron said this was an opportunity to thank everyone who contributed to the project.

With a perfect restoration, Notre Dame Cathedral is ready to open to visitors this weekend, from December 7.

Before the fire, Notre Dame Cathedral attracted about 12 million visitors a year. The monument is expected to welcome 14-15 million people after reopening./.
