Since the morning of May 23, the show Who is that and MC Tran Thanh have become the center of controversy. The information Tran Thanh and his crew gave in the first episode is said to be inaccurate about the gender transition process.
Specifically, when introducing NPAK - a transgender contestant from female to male - Tran Thanh shared: "He used to be a woman. This hand, people had to open the blood vessels and put hormones and everything in to change gender."
The program also put a subtitle in NPAK's self-introduction: "The doctor opened a vein under my arm to inject hormones into my body."
Doctor Nguyen Khoa Binh said that injecting male hormones, specifically testosterone, into the bloodstream is contraindicated.
Dr. Nguyen Khoa Binh said: “ This is very dangerous because it can guide people to inject hormones in the wrong way. In medicine, testosterone is used a lot, not just for transgender people. Testosterone is like oil, it does not dissolve in water. Injecting it into the blood can cause embolism. If the embolism is in a large blood vessel or in the lungs, it can cause extremely dangerous complications. Testosterone can only be injected into the muscle.”
