The city's leaders have paid attention to and oriented the development of reading culture activities to be both universal to all areas of the city and have activities that demonstrate pioneering and creativity, and are the highlights of the city.

He said: "In addition, activities and events on reading culture must both promote reading and writing, build the city's culture and people, and contribute to the development of the economy , services, and tourism.

Contribute to making the city a city of attractive and highly engaging events".

Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day is also one of the key events to develop reading culture.

This year, the program takes place from April 15 to May 1, with a peak from April 17 to April 22 at Cong Truong Cong Xa Paris Street (from Nguyen Du Street to Le Duan Street), Nguyen Van Binh Street, Thu Duc City and 21 districts in Ho Chi Minh City.

There are about 300 activities in response to this special festival such as the exhibition of books winning the 2023 National Book Award;

10 reading culture ambassadors for the 2024-2025 term

On this occasion, the organizing committee also announced the list of 10 reading culture ambassadors of Ho Chi Minh City for the 2024-2025 term.

They are Mr. Le Hoang - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Book Street Company Limited, journalist Duong Thanh Truyen, writer Nguyen Nhat Anh, poet - journalist Le Minh Quoc, businessman Le Tri Thong, writer, journalist Phuong Huyen, writer, journalist Bui Tieu Quyen, nun Suoi Thong, beauty queen Luong Thuy Linh, Huynh Anh Thu - Outstanding Young Citizen of Ho Chi Minh City in 2023.

On this occasion, the organizing committee announced the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh City Reading Culture Ambassador Club and respectfully announced researcher Nguyen Dinh Tu (104 years old) as a lifelong reading culture ambassador.

The Reading Culture Ambassadors Club will be a place to create common living conditions for reading culture ambassadors through their terms.

Create an environment that meets the needs of cultural activities and enjoyment of reading culture, join hands to spread reading culture and the values ​​that books bring to people.

After two terms, Ho Chi Minh City currently has 20 reading culture ambassadors. The Executive Board of the City Reading Culture Ambassador Club was also introduced at the opening ceremony.

Mr. Le Hoang is the club's chairman. The vice chairmen include Ms. Quach Thi Thu Nguyet, Mr. Duong Thanh Truyen, Mr. Le Tri Thong and Mr. Vo Huynh Tan Tai.
