Scientists and researchers play a key role in the development of science and technology in the city.

DNO - That was the affirmation of Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong at the award ceremony for organizations and individuals with outstanding achievements in science, technology and innovative startups in 2023 on the morning of May 16.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong said that research activities, application of science, technology and innovative startups in the city have many positive changes and strong development; promoting the great intellectual potential of the people in production and life, in which scientists and innovative startups play a key role in the development of science, technology and innovation in the city.

For three consecutive years, Da Nang has received the title of “Attractive City for Innovative Startups” by the Vietnam Software and Information Technology Services Association; the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry awarded the title of “Outstanding Locality in Building a Startup Ecosystem”; and the Ministry of Science and Technology assessed it as one of the localities with outstanding contributions to the national innovative startup ecosystem.

The city leaders highly appreciated the role of science, technology and innovation in the city's development; directed the Department of Science and Technology, local departments, branches and sectors to prioritize resource allocation and create conditions for scientists, organizations and individuals to start creative businesses to promote their intelligence and innovate in production and life.

In addition to existing policies, the city is coordinating with the Ministry of Planning and Investment to develop specific policies on city development. The policy contents have been agreed upon by the Government, approved by the National Assembly Standing Committee and are expected to be submitted to the National Assembly at the May 2024 session; including many breakthrough policies on science, technology and innovation.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee hopes that experts and scientists will continue to research, promote the application of science and technology into practice, promote the commercialization of research results, link research results with innovative start-up activities; contribute to socio-economic development, build Da Nang city into one of the major socio-economic centers of the country and Southeast Asia with the role of a center for start-up and innovation as determined in Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW dated January 24, 2019 of the Politburo.

It is known that in 2023, the Department of Science and Technology received 375 applications for the award. The Department has reviewed and organized a scientific advisory council to select and submit to the City People's Committee for consideration and issuance of the award decision.

This is an activity to encourage scientific research, technological development, honor organizations and individuals who have made positive contributions to scientific and technological activities, contributing to the construction and socio-economic development of the city.

At the award ceremony, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong awarded Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the City People's Committee to the authors and groups of authors of 2 inventions; 4 useful solutions that have been granted protection certificates; 6 works that won the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award; 47 articles published in prestigious scientific journals; 9 individuals and 9 collectives with outstanding achievements in innovative start-up activities in 2023.
