Located in the heart of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the building named D67 is not only a simple historical relic but also a vivid symbol of the resilient and indomitable spirit during the resistance war against the US to save the country. Associated with important historical moments, this place witnessed many strategic decisions being drawn up, deciding the fate of the entire nation during the arduous but glorious years. Each brick and each door in D67 house seems to still retain the breath of the times, telling the story of the iron will and determination of the entire nation in the fight to protect independence and freedom.
Built in 1967, in the context of the US imperialists conducting fierce bombings in the North, D67 was born with the goal of ensuring absolute safety for the Politburo and the Central Military Commission during strategic meetings. Behind its simple appearance, hidden under the shade of trees, the building has a solid structure, strong enough to withstand all the destruction of bombs and bullets. The walls are up to 0.6 meters thick, heavy steel doors and a sophisticated underground tunnel system have turned this place into a secret "fortress", protecting the strategic brain of the resistance.

The main meeting room of the Politburo and the Central Military Commission occupies the central position of D67, where the most important decisions were made. Next to it are the offices of General Vo Nguyen Giap and General Van Tien Dung – two historical figures who played an indispensable role in the campaign to liberate the South. From these rooms, many historical meetings took place, where military strategies such as the Route 9 – Southern Laos Campaign, the Quang Tri Campaign, and especially the Ho Chi Minh Campaign were planned, bringing the country closer to reunification.
Below the D67 building, the D67 underground bunker system is designed to be 9 meters deep, where meetings take place in case of emergency. The bunker has three staircases leading down, with a solid steel door, resistant to heavy bombs and chemical weapons attacks. Here, the air is filtered by modern equipment, ensuring absolute safety for leaders in all situations. This bunker is not only a place of protection but also a nerve center, where turning-point decisions are made during the fierce resistance war.
From 1968 to April 30, 1975, D67 house became the place where many decisive meetings of the Politburo and the Central Military Commission took place. In particular, on December 18, 1974, the expanded Politburo Conference took place here, where the plan to completely liberate the South and unify the country was decided. General Vo Nguyen Giap, in his memoirs, wrote about the historical atmosphere at D67: “The flat-roofed house hidden under the dense foliage of trees with solid working basements, where many secret meetings of the Politburo and the Central Military Commission had taken place, today witnessed a historical event of decisive significance.”

On April 30, 1975, amid the boundless joy of the entire nation, the Party and Army leaders received the news of the victory of the liberation of the South right at the D67 house. It was a moment of overwhelming joy, when the sacrifices, efforts and indomitable spirit of the entire nation were rewarded with a great victory. In an emotional atmosphere, the leaders rushed out to the “Dragon House” yard, joyfully sharing the joy of national reunification, ending the long war.
Today, D67 has become an important historical site, attracting domestic and foreign visitors. The artifacts here, from the large meeting room, military maps to the chairs where the leaders sat, all evoke the solemn atmosphere of a period of fierce struggle. This space seems to recreate the tense and glorious moments, where military strategies were discussed and orders were issued, leading the Vietnamese army and people to the final victory.
