Risk of thunderstorms, tornadoes and cyclones due to the heat wave in Lao Cai province

During the heat wave, there is a high risk of thunderstorms, tornadoes, and strong gusts of wind (heat storms) in Lao Cai province.

Due to the influence of a low pressure trough with an axis at about 25 - 28 degrees North latitude connecting with the hot low pressure area in the West, continuing to develop and expand to the East, it is forecasted that from April 27 to 30, the low-lying areas of the province will have hot and severe heat, with some places being especially severe. The focus of the heat wave from April 28 to 30, on May 1 the intensity of the heat will tend to decrease gradually.

Through monitoring the weather developments in the areas in the province up to now, it is found that many places have seen hot westerly winds of level 2 - 3 (wind speed reaching from 34m/s), the temperature in the areas in the province is high. Through the monitoring data at 13:00 on April 26 at specific meteorological stations and general weather stations: Hoa Mac (Van Ban district) temperature is 38.6 degrees Celsius, humidity 24%; Den Sang general measuring station (Bat Xat), temperature is 34.6 degrees Celsius, humidity 19%; Lung Cai (Bac Ha), temperature is 32.1 degrees Celsius, humidity 19%; Sa Pa Meteorological Station measured temperature 26.9 degrees Celsius, humidity 39.8%, wind speed 4m/s; Lao Cai city is 36.3 degrees Celsius, humidity 52.1%; Bac Ha town is 32.4 degrees Celsius, humidity 31.1%; Pho Rang town (Bao Yen) is 37.2 degrees Celsius, humidity 44.3%...

Due to the heat wave lasting for many days, combined with the influence of hot, dry westerly winds, high temperatures, low humidity, strong winds, there is a high risk of thunderstorms, tornadoes, and strong gusts of wind (heat storms) in Lao Cai province. Pay special attention to the districts of Van Ban, Bat Xat, Si Ma Cai and Sa Pa town.
