As the football festival of Europe, each Euro generates huge revenue. And UEFA commits that the money from the tournament will be reinvested in football.
Audience is revenue
The sale of live broadcast rights accounts for the largest proportion of Euro 2024's total revenue. Accordingly, the value of Euro 2024 's media rights is expected to exceed the 1.135 billion euro mark of Euro 2020.
Since 2016, the Euro has been expanded from 16 to 24 participating teams. This change helps UEFA increase the media value of the Euro, as it can sell broadcasting rights to more matches and to more countries. Specifically, at Euro 2020, the average viewership of the final was 328 million. The average audience for each match was more than 100 million.
And UEFA forecasts broadcast rights revenue for Euro 2024 to reach 1.4 billion euros ($1.5 billion).
Qatar-based pay-TV channel BeIN Sports has paid €25 million ($27 million) to be the only channel in France to broadcast every Euro 2024 match, including 26 exclusive matches. Broadcasters such as Wowow (Japan), TrueVisions (Thailand), Match TV and Okko (both in Russia) are among the many that have signed Euro 2024 broadcasting agreements with UEFA.
Matchday tickets are another major source of revenue for UEFA from each Euro tournament. Around 2.7 million tickets have been sold for the 51 matches at Euro 2024, with prices ranging from €30 to €200 depending on the seat for group stage matches and from €95 to €1,000 for the final.
The Euro’s global appeal is also fueling another revenue stream: sponsorship. Euro 2024 in Germany has attracted 13 global partners, along with five domestic sponsors. These large companies and corporations will contribute a large part of the €568 million ($613.6 million) in commercial rights revenue that UEFA expects to earn from this year’s tournament.
Euro 2024 sponsors include big names such as Adidas, Alipay, Booking.com, Hisense and Vivo. In addition, major German brands such as Lidl and Engelbert Strauss are also leading partners of Euro 2024.

At the local level, the programme pays for mini-league football, club development, amateur coaching, school football, and a host of other grassroots initiatives to help more people get involved in football. At the national level, HatTrick helps national football federations improve football infrastructure and invest in players, coaches, referees, and administrators.
Accordingly, Euro 2024 is expected to leave a lasting football legacy across the old continent, through the allocation of a record 935 million euros to federations to develop based on more than 800 projects implemented in 20 years of HatTrick.
Commercial revenue from the Euros will also be distributed through prize money and various club-level programmes in Europe.
Each nation participating in Euro 2024 will receive €9.25 million ($9.9 million). There will also be bonuses based on each team's performance in the group stage and knockout stages. In particular, the tournament champion can accumulate up to €28.5 million ($30.5 million) in prize money.
