Chairman of the Association of Vietnamese Solidarity in Ulianovsk city Trinh Van Que said that although the past year has encountered many difficulties and disruptions due to the pandemic and the political situation, our community in the hometown of proletarian leader VI Lenin has still made great efforts to overcome difficulties, maintain production and business, support and help each other, and always look towards the homeland with practical and effective actions. In the near future, overseas Vietnamese in Ulianovsk will also join hands with the authorities of both sides to place a statue of leader VI Lenin - a gift from Ulianovsk city - in Vinh city, Nghe An province, the hometown of President Ho, a sister city of Ulianovsk. He believes that with the contribution of overseas Vietnamese, the relationship between the two cities will increasingly develop, contributing to strengthening the good traditional friendship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
Within the framework of the program, a traditional cultural space of Vietnam during the Lunar New Year was recreated in a realistic and complete way with many highlights such as Chung cake wrapping, making to he figurines, cuisine, calligraphy, Dong Ho painting printing, traditional martial arts performances, folk music and art programs celebrating the Party and Spring performed by officials and staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Russia. Le Chi Mai, a first-year student at the MGIMO School of International Relations of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was very surprised and moved to celebrate the traditional New Year warmly and fully in both material and spiritual terms, which eased the homesickness of her first year away from home. For some Vietnamese children born and raised in Russia, and who have only visited their homeland during short holidays, the reenactment of the traditional New Year is truly meaningful, bringing them the core and simple values of Vietnamese culture, such as Tet is an occasion to gather with family. "Spring Homeland - Tet Giap Thin 2024" has brought a warm Tet atmosphere and happiness of reunion, contributing to connecting the community, as well as easing the homesickness of those living far away in Russia.
