This year's festival is especially aimed at commemorating the 280th anniversary of the day King Nguyen Phuc Khoat established the ao dai, the predecessor of the modern ao dai.
This is one of the key events within the framework of Song Doi Cultural Week 2024.
Young people are increasingly fond of Vietnamese traditional costumes.
Dr. Luu Van Quyet - Head of the History Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities - said that the Green Hair and Ao Dai Festival has affirmed its position as the largest Vietnamese costume festival in the South.
" The Song Doi Cultural Week and the Green Hair and Ao Dai Festival are activities that play a central role in the goal of bringing the flow of Vietnamese cultural quintessence closer to everyone, especially young people.
This is also an opportunity for participants to experience material and spiritual heritages," added Mr. Luu Van Quyet.
Dr. Phan Thanh Hai - Vice President of the Vietnam Archaeological Association, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Thua Thien Hue - said that the ao dai is not only a costume but also a source of pride and cultural unity across the country.
He emphasized: "We, cultural workers, feel happy that the movement to reclaim national culture has taken place in all three regions in recent years and has developed very strongly.

Song Doi Cultural Week and Green Hair and Ao Dai Festival are typical examples of connecting traditional cultural quintessence and bringing it into modern life.

Green Hair and Ao Dai Festival 2024 expanded
The 4th Green Hair and Ao Dai Festival 2024 marking an expansion in scale and quality.
This year, there are 30 experience booths from 25 cultural units, contributing to creating a colorful picture in the process of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values.
Mr. Ton That Minh Khoi said that this year, there are additional units in Hanoi, Hue (Thua Thien Hue) and Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa) participating, creating a unique feature for the festival.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the audience enjoyed a performance of traditional Cham costumes and art, as well as Cham dances.
