Relatives recount the moment they discovered a mother and her four children dead in their home in Khanh Hoa

At noon on August 24, under the scorching sun, many people and neighbors came to burn incense to offer condolences to the family of the unfortunate mother and her four children in Vinh Dong village, Cam An Nam commune, Cam Lam district (Khanh Hoa).

The small house had 4 coffins, incense smoke billowing, portraits of Ms. NHND (born in 1974) and her 3 daughters, HNKN (born in 2002), HNKGM (born in 2009) and HNTÂ (born in 2013) next to each other, along with wreaths from neighbors, relatives, students, etc. who came to express their condolences, making everyone cry.

Ms. Nhung was stunned when looking at the portrait of her sister and grandchildren.

The initial cause of death of Ms. D. and her four children was determined to be Ho Xuan Hai (born in 1971, residing in Vinh Dong village, Cam An Hai commune, Cam Lam district) - the husband and father of the four victims - who used CO gas to poison them while they were sleeping so that they could die together. However, Hai was saved.

At the funeral, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc My Nhung (Ms. D.'s younger sister) was also the one who discovered Ms. D.'s mother and four children dead at home. She could not hold back her tears throughout the funeral. Her face was blank. When someone asked her about her health, she answered with sobs and could not speak.

Ms. Nhung said that her family has four children, Ms. D. is the third in the family. Since getting married, her life has been very happy, well-off, with three beautiful, studious daughters.

" My eldest daughter is in her second year at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy. She received a scholarship and dreams of becoming a doctor to save people. The children in grades 9 and 5 are also good students, well-behaved, and have received many certificates of merit from the school ," Ms. Nhung looked up at the wall filled with certificates of merit from her children and burst into tears again.

Yesterday morning (August 23), Ms. Nhung called her sister but could not reach her. She was worried and anxious so she and her husband ran over to knock on the door and discovered the incident.

" When I opened the door and saw the mother and her four children lying motionless, I collapsed, not understanding what was happening," said Ms. Nhung.

Many students came to burn incense for their late friend.

Attending the funeral, Mr. Huynh Duc Ba (neighbor) said that when he heard the news, he could not believe it was true. Because Ms. D's family lived in harmony, had a good economy from the pig farm and the children were very obedient.

" For generations, in this peaceful countryside, nothing like this has happened. I don't know what Mr. Hai was thinking to be so desperate and act so shallowly," said Mr. Ba.

The house is located in Vinh Dong village, Cam An Nam commune, Cam Lam district.

As the person who took Ho Xuan Hai to the emergency room, Mr. Truong Minh Hung (38 years old, neighbor) said that while he was at his family's chicken farm, his wife called to tell him about the incident, so he rushed home to help. When he arrived, he saw 4 bodies lying in the house, surrounded by the commune police, cordoned off the scene.

Mr. Hung used his car to take Hai to the emergency room at a clinic 500 meters from his house, then continued to take him to Cam Ranh Regional General Hospital. During the trip to the hospital, Mr. Hung also talked to Hai but received no response, feeling exhausted.

“ I live next to Mr. Hai and have never heard of a quarrel between the couple. The family is very happy. Everyone in the village admires them because their three daughters are all pretty and good at studying,” said Mr. Hung.

As VTC News reported, at noon on August 23, neighbors discovered Ms. NHND and her three daughters dead in their house. Nearby, Ms. D.'s husband, Ho Xuan Hai, was lying gasping for breath, and was immediately taken to Cam Ranh Regional General Hospital for emergency treatment with suspected signs of poisoning.

At the scene, police seized a metal cylinder containing CO gas and a blue plastic tube connected to the CO gas cylinder.

On the afternoon of August 24, Khanh Hoa Provincial Police issued an emergency arrest warrant for Ho Xuan Hai to investigate the crime of "Murder".

Initially, when questioned by the police, Hai confessed that his family invested in a pig farm, but the business failed and he was in debt and could not pay it back. In desperation, he planned to poison his entire family.

Accordingly, Hai researched and went online to buy a CO gas cylinder, then looked up how to use it. While his wife and children were sleeping, Hai released CO gas into the bedroom, then also went into the bedroom, inhaled the toxic gas but did not die.
