Hanoi: Head responsible for ensuring food safety
Heads of local Party committees, authorities, agencies and units must be responsible for ensuring food safety according to assigned tasks in their management areas and areas of responsibility.
The Hanoi Party Committee has just issued Directive No. 34-CT/TU on strengthening the leadership of Party committees at all levels in ensuring food security and safety in the new situation in Hanoi.

According to the assessment, the work of ensuring food safety has had positive changes and achieved some remarkable results.
Information, communication and education on food safety have been strengthened; inspection and examination work has been carried out regularly and continuously at all levels, thereby helping to raise awareness of managers, producers, traders and consumers about food safety.
However, the issue of ensuring food security and safety still has many limitations: Awareness of producers, traders and consumers about food safety is not adequate; many food production and trading establishments still pursue profits, not caring about the interests of consumers.
The Directive clearly states that all people have the right to use safe food and have the obligation to ensure food safety. Food production, trading, processing and consumption units in the area must have the responsibility and reputation to ensure food safety to serve the people's lives.
In order to improve the quality of state management of food safety, the Hanoi Party Committee requires relevant agencies to promote propaganda, education, and dissemination of knowledge and laws on food safety, especially the Food Safety Law and related legal documents to raise awareness, identify responsibilities and actions of Party committees at all levels, Party organizations, cadres, Party members and people in ensuring food security and safety.
Mobilize food production, processing, trading establishments, suppliers, distributors and consumers to voluntarily and exemplaryly comply with legal regulations on food safety, change unhygienic behaviors, habits and lifestyles, contribute to ensuring food safety at all stages, protecting health, protecting the environment, and improving people's quality of life.
Strengthening the leadership of Party committees at all levels, the drastic participation of all levels and sectors, especially the role and responsibility of state management of food safety of authorities at all levels.
Identifying leadership and direction to ensure food security and safety as a central and regular task of the entire political system, in which the advisory role of functional agencies is extremely important.
Direct the inclusion of food safety criteria in the locality's annual and phased socio-economic development plans and activities.

Strengthen inspection, examination and supervision of food security and safety work; resolutely combat, prevent and strictly handle organizations, individuals, production and business establishments that violate regulations on food security and safety; proactively prevent and combat negativity and group interests in the field of food security and safety.
Promote the mass movement to detect and denounce violations of food security and safety; create public opinion and consumers to condemn and boycott products and goods that do not ensure food safety. Have appropriate policies, timely rewards and appropriate measures to protect those who report violations of food security and safety.
At the same time, strictly handle acts of taking advantage of food security and safety to damage the reputation and negatively affect the healthy production and business of organizations, enterprises and individuals. Improve the capacity to prevent and proactively handle food poisoning and food-borne diseases.
