Within the framework of the event “Hanoi Days in Ho Chi Minh City”, many scenes and heritages of Hanoi are displayed on Nguyen Hue walking street (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City). This is a series of activities to promote the image, culture, cuisine, and impressive craft villages of Hanoi to people and tourists in Ho Chi Minh City.
The event "Hanoi Days in Ho Chi Minh City" was organized by the Hanoi Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for 3 days (August 23-25) to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).
The program is not only an opportunity to review the heroic history of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital, but also an opportunity to introduce to the people of the “City named after Uncle Ho” and the Southern region, and to tourists the unique cultural and economic values of the Capital Hanoi. The event also aims to further affirm the close and sustainable cooperative relationship between the two major cities of the country.

Born and raised in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Trong Khang (residing in Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City) said that after more than 20 years away from his hometown, every street, corner, and place name of Hanoi still cannot fade in his mind: "Coming to the space of "Hanoi Days in Ho Chi Minh City", I was extremely moved when I saw a Hanoi that was both dear and familiar. Coming to “Hanoi Days in Ho Chi Minh City”, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thoa (living in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) felt a Hanoi that was closer and more familiar than ever. The cultural beauty of the capital Hanoi is not only recreated through images of monuments, landmarks, typical cultural heritages… but also in traditional craft products, dishes, cakes, and drinks imbued with Hanoi.

Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh affirmed that, in addition to reviewing the history and promoting the great significance of the Capital Liberation Day; the achievements of 70 years of construction and development..., "Hanoi Days in Ho Chi Minh City" also aims to strengthen the cooperative relationship between the capital Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in promoting and exploiting the potential and advantages of the two localities.
According to Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, “Hanoi Days in Ho Chi Minh City” is very meaningful, showing the deep affection between the two big cities. This program “bringing the whole space of Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City” helps Ho Chi Minh City people feel that Hanoi is closer and more familiar.
“After the program, the affection of the people of the South, especially the people of Ho Chi Minh City, for Hanoi will spread more widely and deeply. The program “Hanoi Days in Ho Chi Minh City” will close at 8:00 p.m. on August 25, at Nguyen Hue Walking Street, including artistic activities, accompanying reports, closing speeches and honoring individuals and groups participating in organizing the event.
Honoring outstanding people
As part of the series of events, the Hanoi delegation visited and presented gifts to 70 families of policy beneficiaries and outstanding people of Ho Chi Minh City. These are Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, veteran revolutionaries and those who directly participated in the liberation of the capital.
