The school holds the record for having the most Olympia champions in the country.

Vo Quang Phu Duc, a male student from Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted in Hue , has just convincingly become the champion of the 24th Road to Olympia. This victory helped the school on the banks of the Huong River set a record, becoming the school with the most contestants reaching the finals of the year and the school with the most Olympia champions in the country.

Before Vo Quang Phu Duc, Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted had 6 other excellent students who also made it to the final round of the Road to Olympia, including: Nguyen Nguyen Thai Bao (5th year), Nguyen Manh Tan (8th year), Ho Ngoc Han (9th year), Thai Ngoc Huy (11th year), Ho Dac Thanh Chuong (16th year) and Nguyen Minh Triet (23rd year).

Among them, Ho Ngoc Han and Ho Dac Thanh Chuong were two students who brought home the joy of victory, when they won the laurel wreath.

In terms of provincial scale, Phu Duc's victory at Olympia 2024 helped Thua Thien Hue equal Quang Ninh 's record, becoming one of the two provinces with the most Olympia champions in the country. In terms of school scale, Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted is the school with the most Olympia champions in the country.

Located next to the Perfume River, Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted was established in 1896 under the decree of King Thanh Thai. The school was built on the grounds of Dinh Thuy Su (a training place for naval soldiers of the Nguyen Dynasty army) in the style of a thatched house with earthen walls.

In the early 20th century, the school was solidly rebuilt in the ancient French architectural style but still retained the Asian features with the characteristic dark red brick color. People say that Quoc Hoc Hue has a majestic and quiet beauty but is still romantic and poetic like the people of the ancient capital.

Over 100 years of construction and development, the pink school on the banks of the Huong River has witnessed the ups and downs of national history.

When it was first established, the school was called Phap Tu Quoc Hoc Duong and was often called Quoc Hoc School with the purpose of teaching French, Quoc Ngu, and Chinese characters. This was the main Franco-Vietnamese school in the whole of Indochina. Later, the school changed its name to Khai Dinh High School, Ngo Dinh Diem High School, etc. In 1956, the name Quoc Hoc returned to this school.

Quoc Hoc Hue is the school that Uncle Ho attended during his teenage years in the early 20th century. Therefore, generations of teachers and students of the school are always proud because this is the school that contributed to forming and nurturing great personalities, great courage, and genius leaders for the nation.

Not only President Ho Chi Minh , many names of outstanding revolutionary soldiers and outstanding cultural activists grew up from Hue National School such as General Vo Nguyen Giap, General Secretary Tran Phu, General Secretary Ha Huy Tap, poets To Huu, Xuan Dieu, Huy Can.

In March 1990, Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted was recognized as a National Historical and Cultural Relic. By 2021, the school was ranked as a Special National Relic.

For over a century, Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted has not only been famous for its long history but also for being the cradle of training talents for the country. Up to now, this school has always been the dream of many students in Thua Thien Hue in particular and the Central provinces in general because of the quality of study and teaching.
