For Vietnamese football fans, Tran Huu Dong Trieu is not a strange name.
Dong Trieu considers retirement after leaving Quang Nam Club.
In the past, he and stars like Nguyen Tuan Anh, Nguyen Cong Phuong and Luong Xuan Truong dominated regional youth tournaments.
There was even a time when this generation of Vietnamese players created a fever in Asia.
However, while his teammates have developed their potential and become top stars, Tran Huu Dong Trieu has gradually lost himself in the HAGL shirt.
He then moved to Binh Duong and Hai Phong on loan before joining Quang Nam in the 2022 season.
But by the end of the 2023 season, when Quang Nam won the right to play in the V-League, Dong Trieu's contract was also terminated.
In a sharing with the media, the star born in 1995 said he is considering retiring.
“In the life of a football player, sooner or later, you have to stop playing to find a new direction, so after winning the First Division championship with Quang Nam Club, I thought about leaving football to be closer to my wife and children. Playing all year round, I have to go back to my family,” said Dong Trieu.
Not only Dong Trieu, after the 2023 season, two former HAGL stars, Le Duc Luong and Le Van Truong, also became unemployed.
As for Le Duc Luong, he has now returned home to help his family manage the livestock farm in Binh Phuoc but still hopes to be signed by HAGL in the second phase of the 2023-2024 V-League.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Le Van Truong will leave Pleiku Stadium at the end of the 2022 season to join Khanh Hoa.
But he has not found a new team yet and often participates in amateur football tournaments to maintain his fitness.
If this situation continues, it is likely that the above stars will soon have to say goodbye to professional football.
