CHINA DAILY. China and Thailand signed a visa exemption agreement during Foreign Minister Wang Yi's visit to Bangkok.

KYODO. Japan and the United States have agreed to cooperate in research and development of artificial intelligence (AI), with the hope of applying this technology to the manufacture of unmanned aircraft.

ANADOLU. Qatar and the United States are committed to advancing a deal with Iran over Tehran's $6 billion fund that was recently released after being frozen, Qatar's foreign minister said in a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.

IRNA. Iran successfully launched three satellites at the same time for the first time, using the Simorgh (Phoenix) two-stage rocket developed by the Ministry of Defense.

IRAN INTERNATIONAL. Receiving Pakistani Ambassador to Iran Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stressed the importance of cooperation with Pakistan to protect the common border between the two countries.

TIMES OF ISRAEL. The Israeli military is stepping up combat readiness along the Israel-Lebanon border , carrying out "intensive exercises" amid cross-border escalation.

UN. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on donor countries to “ ensure the continued operation ” of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

Europe

TASS. "In general, the situation in relations between the two countries is developing dynamically," Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko in St. Petersburg.

ANADOLU. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan visited Albania, Bulgaria and Romania from January 28-31, discussing bilateral relations and issues of mutual concern with the leaders of the Balkan countries.

AFP. North Macedonia's parliament has voted to appoint Talat Xhaferi as acting prime minister, making the 61-year-old the first ethnic Albanian to lead the government of the Western Balkan nation.

America

CNN. US and Chinese officials will meet in Beijing on January 30 for the first talks in years aimed at halting the production of ingredients used to make the painkiller fentanyl.

PRENSA LATINA. Students from various Cuban educational institutions gathered at the University of Havana to participate in the traditional torchlight procession honoring national hero José Martí on the 171st anniversary of his birth (January 27, 1853).

AP. Firefighters in Argentina are struggling to contain a wildfire that is “out of control” in Los Alerces National Park in the Patagonian province of Chubut.

BLOOMBERG. Mexico's total merchandise exports reached $593 billion in 2023, the highest level in the country's history, but the export growth rate recorded a decrease compared to the previous two years.

Africa

AL ARABIYA. Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso issued a joint statement announcing the withdrawal of the three countries from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

AP. African Union (AU) Commission Chairman Moussa Faki Mahamat welcomed the ruling of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordering Israel to take all measures to prevent genocide in the Gaza Strip.

EL ESPECTADOR. Colombian Defense Minister Iván Velásquez Gómez traveled to Cuba to participate in a round of peace talks with the National Liberation Army (ELN) armed group taking place in Havana.

Oceania

CNN. Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner, 22 years old, defeated Russian opponent Daniil Medvedev (3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 and 6-3) to win the men's singles final of the Australian Open tennis tournament on the evening of January 28.
