AFP. Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni appointed Hun Manet as the country's new leader, succeeding his father, Prime Minister Hun Sen, who is stepping down after nearly four decades in power.
PBS. The second and third largest parties in Thailand's general election, Pheu Thai and Bhumjaithai, have said they will try to form a new coalition government.
TBS. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian visits Japan - the first trip since 2019 by the head of Iranian diplomacy to a member country of the G7 group.

KYODO. Former Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso, now Vice Chairman of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), is visiting Taiwan (China) to meet with leader Tsai Ing-wen and deliver a speech at the Ketagalan Forum.
YONHAP. The suspect in the car crash and stabbing incident that occurred last week in Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Nambu Province, south of the capital Seoul, has been identified as Choi Won-jong, 22 years old.
KOREA HERALD. South Korea's kimchi exports exceeded $80 million for the first time in the first half of this year, up more than 20 percent from the annual average and up 4.8 percent from a year earlier.
KOREA TIMES. South Korea has decided to postpone its plan to ease the remaining Covid-19 prevention measures due to the recent resurgence of infections.
PTI. The Indian parliament has reinstated Rahul Gandhi , leader of the main opposition Congress party (INC), as an MP after the country's Supreme Court suspended a conviction against him.
MINT. For the first time, India, Nepal and Bangladesh will enter into a trilateral power trade agreement, which could further boost cross-border power trade in South Asia.
UNICEF. About 75% of children in South Asia are facing dangerously high temperatures, the highest warning level worldwide, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has warned.
DAWN. Pakistan is postponing a multi-billion dollar gas pipeline project with Iran until international sanctions against Iran are lifted.

TASS. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had a phone conversation with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, discussing international issues, including the Ukraine crisis and Russia-China bilateral relations.
REUTERS. Key factions in the German parliament have “reached consensus” on supplying Ukraine with Taurus cruise missiles with a range of 500 km, but a formal decision has yet to be announced.

LE SOIR. The Belgian Federal Judicial Police (PJF) says drug- related violence is at an all-time high in the capital Brussels.

FOX. US officials said at least three people were killed when two firefighting helicopters collided while on duty in Riverside County, in the southern state of California on August 6.
AP. The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) forecasts that revenues from the world's busiest shipping route will fall in the coming fiscal year after a drop in ship traffic due to a prolonged dry season.
AFP. The Dominican Republic has successfully dismantled a transnational cybercrime ring accused of defrauding hundreds of Americans.

DAILY NEWS EGYPT. Egypt and Jordan signed 12 cooperation agreements, following the 31st session of the Egypt-Jordan Joint High Committee co-chaired by the two Prime Ministers on August 7 in the capital Amman.

MAP. Moroccan naval forces have recovered the bodies of five migrants from Senegal and rescued 189 others after their boat capsized off the coast of Western Sahara.
AFP. Mali and Burkina Faso sent a joint official delegation to Niamey on Wednesday, August 7, to show solidarity with Niger, which is under the control of the leader of the coup that overthrew the elected government.
FRANCE 24. The French Foreign Ministry has announced the suspension of development aid and budget support to Burkina Faso, after Mali and Burkina Faso said they would consider any military intervention against Niger's military government a "declaration of war" against the two countries.
AFRICA NEWS. According to preliminary results of the referendum on the draft of the new Constitution , 95.21% of the votes were "yes", much higher than the 4.79% of the votes "no".
AFP. The Yemeni government army announced the launch of a campaign to hunt down al-Qaeda terrorists hiding in the southern Yemen province of Abyan.

CNBC. Australia has called on China to remove all remaining trade restrictions after Beijing lifted tariffs on barley imports from Australia, seeing it as a sign of normalizing bilateral relations.
