US Secretary of State to continue visiting Israel

“Secretary Blinken will travel to Israel on Friday to meet with members of the Israeli government and will then make other stops in the region,” State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said.

In early October, Mr. Blinken visited Israel, Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt, after fighting in Gaza broke out.

Fighting between Israel and Hamas continues to rage inside the Gaza Strip. Palestinian health officials said earlier that at least 50 Palestinians and a Hamas commander were killed in Israeli air strikes on a refugee camp in northern Gaza on Tuesday.

Israeli ground forces have also been battling Hamas militants inside a vast network of tunnels. The tunnels under the cramped enclave are a top target for Israel as it expands its ground offensive.

Hamas also responded with anti-tank missiles and machine guns. Hamas said in a statement that its fighters engaged in fierce battles with Israeli ground forces and inflicted losses on the enemy.
