During meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah, Mr. Lammy asked Israel to stop expanding settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and to reform and strengthen the Palestinian Authority.
During his visit, Mr Lammy will also meet the families of hostages currently held in Gaza who have links to the UK. He will call for the release of all hostages and a significant increase in humanitarian aid into Gaza.
In another development, Israel said it had struck Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif in a major attack in Gaza, killing at least 90 people. Hamas denied Deif was killed and said ceasefire talks were continuing.
