After 12 years of being organized under the name “Tet for the poor”, this year the program has been renamed “Nghia tinh dong Lam”. The new name carries a profound message, not only about sharing during each Tet holiday, but also aiming at a longer-term goal. The program hopes to support poor children to go to school, take care of the sick and unfortunate, and help poor families have a decent home and a sustainable livelihood. From there, it creates motivation to help them overcome difficulties and rise up in life.

Spring is coming, in the warm atmosphere of the days before Tet, the program "Nghia tinh dong Lam" has continued the journey of spreading love, receiving enthusiastic support from kind-hearted people. In particular, responding to the call of the Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duc Trung, valuable contributions from the community have been sent to the Provincial Fund Mobilization Committee for the Poor through account number 5105288288 at the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam, Nghe An branch.

This year, the Tet program for the poor has an impressive new feature. Thousands of poor households in rural and mountainous areas of Nghe An province have received Tet gifts very early, giving them more time to prepare for a full and warm Tet. Since its launch, in just a very short time, but up to now, all 20/20 urban districts in the province have organized early Spring activities to give Tet gifts to the poor, with 20,456 gifts (equivalent to more than 12.36 billion VND) given to poor households, near-poor households, households in especially difficult circumstances, and patients with serious illnesses in hospitals. It is expected that from now until January 22, 2025 (ie December 23), 100% of poor households in Nghe An will receive Tet gifts.
According to Plan 1043 of the Provincial People's Committee, many "Free Stalls" and "Early Spring" markets have been organized in localities, creating conditions for the poor to receive Tet gifts, reducing worries, so that every family can feel the atmosphere of reunion and family reunion on the traditional Tet holiday.

In 2024, the growth rate of the province's gross domestic product is estimated at 9.01%, ranking 2nd in the North Central region and 13th in the country. Budget revenue reached 25,517 billion VND, exceeding the estimate by 60.4%. Investment attraction achieved high results with the total newly granted and adjusted capital reaching 66 trillion VND, of which FDI capital reached over 1.7 billion USD, the highest ever. This is the third consecutive year that Nghe An province has been in the top 10 nationwide in attracting foreign investment.
In addition to socio-economic achievements, Nghe An has also achieved many other important results. The province has focused on directing the summary of Resolution 18 of the 13th Party Central Committee on innovation and reorganization of the political system to be streamlined and operate effectively and efficiently. The merger of district and commune-level administrative units in accordance with Resolution 1243 of the 15th National Assembly Standing Committee has also been completed.

The program "Tet for the poor", after 12 years of implementation, has become a meaningful humanitarian activity. The total amount of money mobilized is up to more than 873 billion VND, contributing to taking care of Tet for hundreds of thousands of poor households. For the 2024 Giap Thin Tet alone, Nghe An mobilized more than 143 billion VND, giving gifts to over 132 thousand poor households. In addition, in the period of 2023-2024, the province has supported the construction and repair of more than 11,787 houses for the poor with a total budget of more than 843 billion VND.
Comrade Le Hong Vinh also expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the kindness and noble acts of organizations and individuals at home and abroad. Despite many difficulties, businesses and entrepreneurs still actively responded and contributed to the “For the Poor” Fund at all levels and social security programs.
However, Nghe An still faces many challenges with more than 36,700 poor households (accounting for 4.16%) and 47,800 near-poor households (accounting for 5.42%). In particular, more than 5,000 poor households living in temporary, dilapidated houses are in dire need of support from the whole society.

In particular, the program “Nghia tinh dong Lam” has received support with a total value of money and gifts of up to more than 100 billion VND. This is a clear demonstration of the spirit of mutual love, noble deeds and deep humanity of the people of Nghe An.

Especially in areas strongly affected by natural disasters, a storm, a flood or an unexpected accident can easily drag their lives back into misery. The report "Difficult circumstances" broadcast on the program brought us to the lives of the less fortunate: poor patients, orphans, homeless elderly people, people in trouble. And although they always try to overcome their fate, without the cooperation of the community and help from society, it is difficult for them to stand firm and escape poverty.

In the program, the audience got to meet and experience the difficulties that the less fortunate have to face. They are Tra My and Hoai An. Their mother passed away from cancer two years ago, and their father just passed away in a traffic accident more than two months ago. Currently, there are only five siblings left to depend on each other. Only two of them attended the program tonight because their older sister - who has a mental illness, is currently being cared for at a welfare center, and their older brother is sick. When their mother passed away, their father had to borrow money everywhere to take care of their mother, but still could not save her. Their older brother had to drop out of school to work extra to help their father raise their younger brother. This year, this is the first Tet that the children do not have their parents to take care of them. In the program, Tra My shared her wish that her older brothers and sisters will always be healthy so that they can take care of them instead of their parents. For Hoai An, she just wishes she had both parents to take care of her and buy her new clothes. The emotional sharing of the two children made everyone feel sorry and sympathetic.

At the program, we also met Ms. Dau Thi Xuan, a mother who is struggling to raise three young children. Her husband recently passed away from a stroke. Ms. Xuan, despite her small stature and difficulty walking, still tries to work on two fields to earn money to raise her children. She said that seeing her children being obedient and understanding, helping their mother take care of their younger siblings, she feels both love and pride, but also feels sorry for herself. However, she thinks that her children still have a mother, but like some children, both parents are gone...
