Artist Thanh Duoc is a talented artist. He won the Thanh Tam Award gold medal in 1966 for his role as the bandit Thi Dang (in the play "The sound of the crane in the moon"). He and the sad woman Ut Bach Lan are a famous artistic couple admired by the public.

Artist Thanh Duoc, real name Chau Van Duoc, was born in 1934. He was once known as "The King without a Throne" or "The Best Actor" in the Southern Cai Luong theater village. He was born in An My, Ke Sach, Soc Trang in a rich farmer family.

After finishing elementary school, he followed his uncle, the leader of the Thanh Can opera troupe, to learn singing and performed on stage for the first time in 1954 in his uncle's troupe.
Two years later, he stood out in the role of To Dien Son (play "When the cherry blossoms bloom"). In 1958, artist Thanh Duoc returned to the Kim Chuong troupe, then to the Thanh Minh - Thanh Nga troupe, and then back to Kim Chuong.
In 1961, he married the cai luong artist Ut Bach Lan. The two also became a famous couple in the plays "Con gai chi hang", "Tam long cua bien", "Bot bien", "Chuyen tinh 17", "Tinh xuan van tuoi", "Roi 30 nam sau", "Giac mong giu hoang lang"... but the most special was the play "Nua doi huong phan". By 1964, their marriage broke up.
Artists Thanh Duoc and Ut Bach Lan belonged to the generation of artists who became famous when the Cai Luong stage entered a truly professional and prosperous development phase. Among the first stars, they were two outstanding stars with outstanding and different appeal.
Artist Thanh Duoc lived in the US with his family in his last years.
Around 1958, "producer" Kim Chuong - one of the most successful troupe leaders of Saigon's reformed theater - after a period of association to establish a troupe, split off to do it on her own. The main pair of actors and actresses who opened the Kim Chuong brand were Ut Bach Lan and Thanh Duoc.
On the Kim Chuong stage, the Thanh Duoc - Ut Bach Lan partnership captivated the audience through plays imbued with lyricism.
They were a truly successful acting duo, their names reached the peak, and also contributed to making the Kim Chuong troupe famous as "Tourning Heroes", attracting large audiences wherever they performed.
In 2007, his family wanted to organize a commemorative program for artist Thanh Duoc in his hometown, but later due to health reasons, the program could not be carried out.
Theater lovers still remember the roles he left behind for life, especially the works he performed with the sad woman Ut Bach Lan.
