Nghe An rewards each student with high scores graduating from high school with nearly 19 million VND

On the afternoon of August 20, information from the Nghe An Department of Education and Training said that the People's Committee of Nghe An province has issued a decision to reward students with excellent achievements and high scores in the 2024 high school graduation exam.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Nghe An province will award certificates of merit to 66 students with high scores. The reward amount for each student is 18,720,000 VND. The total reward amount on this occasion is more than 1.2 billion VND.

In the list of awarded students, there are 26 students with graduation exam scores of natural science subjects with scores from 53.5 points.

The candidate with the highest score was Nguyen Duy Khoi Nguyen - Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted - with 56.95 points. This is also the candidate with the highest score in the natural science graduation exam in the country.

Nghe An province also awarded 26 students with the highest social science graduation exam scores, those with scores of 55.8 points or higher.

The candidate with the highest score in the social science exam in the province is Nguyen Thi Hoai Linh from Do Luong 3 High School. She is also the candidate with the highest score in Nghe An province in this year's exam.

In addition, 14 ethnic minority students with next highest scores in the natural science and social science groups also received similar rewards.

In the list of candidates with high scores this year, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted is the school with the largest number of candidates receiving awards with 19 students.

2024 is the 15th year that Nghe An Provincial People's Committee has organized a ceremony to honor students who won international and national prizes and achieved high scores in the high school graduation exam.

This activity aims to honor and spread the examples of Nghe An students who study well, overcome difficulties and further promote the emulation movement of good teaching in the whole province.

In 2023, Nghe An province will spend nearly 750 million VND to reward students with high scores in the high school graduation exam at 14.4 million VND/student (calculated not to exceed 8 times the basic salary).

Previously, Nghe An also spent more than 2.7 billion VND to reward teachers and students who achieved achievements in regional, international and national competitions in 2024.

Of which, the highest reward is 93.6 million VND (40 times higher than the basic salary, according to the new salary level) for Phan Quang Triet - a student of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted (silver medalist of the European Physics Olympiad). In addition, teacher Le Xuan Bao - a training teacher - also received an equivalent reward.

In the 2024 high school graduation exam, the average score of Nghe An students was 6,959 points, ranking 12th nationwide. With this result, Nghe An province's ranking increased 10 places compared to 2023, placing it among the provinces with the best results in the country.
