On October 17, the Nghe An Provincial Human Rights Steering Committee (HPSC) coordinated with the Standing Office on Human Rights to organize a training conference on human rights work in 2024 in Vinh city, Nghe An province. The conference was chaired by Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the HPSC Le Hong Vinh.

According to the report at the Conference, in recent times, the work of ensuring human rights in our country has achieved many important achievements, recognized internationally and by other countries. Nghe An province has always received special attention from the Party and the State, in which, in 2023, the Politburo issued Resolution 39 on building and developing Nghe An province to 2030, with a vision to 2045 (replacing Resolution 26 in 2013). The local socio-economic situation has developed quite well. According to statistics in the first 6 months of the year, GDP growth is estimated at 6.76%, ranking 3rd in the North Central region and 26th in the country. In the province, there are 135 valid FDI projects from 14 countries and territories with a total registered capital of nearly 4 billion USD (nearly 100 trillion VND). Cultural and social security work has been given attention; national defense and security have been maintained.

In the field of human rights protection, under the direction of the Government's Human Rights Council, directly guided and coordinated by the Standing Office on Human Rights, the Nghe An Provincial Human Rights Council has advised the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council and the Provincial People's Committee to comprehensively implement all aspects of human rights work in the province and achieved many outstanding results. The work of ensuring and promoting human rights has received attention and direction, especially the implementation of social security policies in special areas and people in difficult circumstances; the work of protecting and caring for children and gender equality has received attention...

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Major General Bui Quang Thanh, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Party Secretary, Director of the Provincial Police Department, emphasized that in the context of Vietnam's human rights struggle and protection facing many advantages, but also many difficulties and challenges, raising awareness for cadres and party members about this work is of special importance. With the goal of renewing thinking, creating a major change in action, developing the human rights struggle and protection in both breadth, depth and substance; at the same time, linking with each locality, each field, each agency, unit, each cadre and party member in Nghe An province during the implementation process. Therefore, the Director requested the delegates participating in the training to focus their intelligence, pay attention to listening, absorbing and comprehending the issues conveyed; frankly exchange and discuss enthusiastically the unclear issues to have a comprehensive understanding of the work of protecting and fighting for human rights in the coming time.

At the Conference, Dr. Le Trung Kien, Deputy Chief of Office of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and Colonel Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, Head of the Human Rights Section, Permanent Office for Human Rights, conveyed topics related to human rights work in the new situation.
