The festival was organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Vietnam National University), with the support of VinGroup Corporation. An estimated 20,000 parents and students attended the festival.

Happy to advise students and parents

According to records, 250 consulting booths of more than 120 universities, colleges and educational institutions are always crowded with students. "Hot" schools such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, University of Technology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University), Foreign Trade University... are crowded with parents and students from beginning to end, the teachers almost never stop.

Master Tran Duy Can, former specialist of the training department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, although retired, still came to the festival to support his former colleagues in answering questions for students and parents. Mr. Can's seat was always surrounded by 5-6 students and parents. After two hours of continuous counseling, he had a little time to drink some water. "I feel happy to be able to advise students and parents," Mr. Can said.

According to Mr. Can, he always wants to clarify with students and parents attending the fair about the admission methods and forms. In recent years, universities have had many methods, if you do not understand clearly, it is easy to miss the opportunity unfairly. In addition, students need to grasp the general admission timelines of the Ministry of Education and Training and the school itself, and the application channels to avoid missing time or missing information.

Also giving advice "out of breath", MSc. Hua Thi Bach Yen, deputy head of the Faculty of Business Administration at Van Lang University, shared that although she was tired, she was very excited. She noticed that students often wondered about the admission method, career opportunities, study programs, tuition fees, etc.

Ms. Yen was especially surprised to meet a student named Thuy Linh, a 12th grader at Dien Hong High School (HCMC). She had met Linh at another consultation session, when Linh asked for general information about the business administration major.

This time, Linh took the initiative to find Ms. Yen at the consulting booth, then asked many more in-depth questions, showing that she had thought a lot about her major. "Nowadays, there is a lot of information on the Internet, but at the fair, there is still the advantage of meeting teachers from many universities in person. The students of the school will also give more close and practical "reviews", Ms. Yen said.

Mr. Vo Quoc Bao, lecturer of the Faculty of Business Administration at Ho Chi Minh City College of Industry and Trade, said that this year, each faculty of the school will send two lecturers to provide consultation. Some teachers will stand "on the outside", interacting with candidates and providing general information.

Many students are still confused and do not know where to start, teachers have to find out from their interests and strengths, from there give advice on which major to pursue. At that time, students will be guided to the area of teachers in the "inner circle" to give more in-depth advice on majors and learning conditions.

Mr. Bao confided that two years ago, the first day of school fell on the same day as the Tuoi Tre Newspaper's Admissions and Career Guidance Day, so he went to help his colleagues. This year, continuing to participate in the festival, he noticed that the number of students attending was higher, the scale of the consulting booths was larger, and the activities were more diverse. The communication for the festival was also promoted, reaching many students from far away.

Satisfied with the answer

Hoang Bin, Tan Phu Secondary School (HCMC), excitedly shared that he was consulted at Van Lang University for up to 30 minutes. Bin decided to pursue international business as his major, so he asked carefully about admission methods, study methods, tuition fees, scholarships, etc.

After asking about this industry, Bin conveniently asked about all the other industries, asking a little about each industry for further reference. "All my questions were answered enthusiastically," Bin said.

Chi Cong, a 12th grader at Truong Chinh High School (HCMC), came to the festival alone. Chi Cong confided that in the past, some educational institutions directly came to his school to provide consultation, but Cong was not satisfied, because Cong realized that the schools mainly advertised. Going to the festival was an opportunity for Cong to meet more schools, teachers, and students, helping him gain a multi-dimensional perspective.

"I am planning to study information technology at the University of Science (Ho Chi Minh City National University), but this major has high scores every year, I want the teachers to analyze it further," Cong said.

Bui Van Loc, a 12th grade student at Truong Dinh High School (Tien Giang), came to the festival with the desire to learn more about the automotive engineering industry but has not yet chosen a school.

Loc went around several schools that offered training in this field and compared the admission methods, curriculum and tuition fees. At every consulting booth, Loc asked detailed questions. At the end of the fair, Loc confided that he had temporarily decided on two potential options: Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education and Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Tran Trung Nghia, a 12th grade student at Chu Van An High School (An Giang), is very interested in computer-related majors and while researching at home, he aimed for the information technology major at the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications because it was quite suitable.

However, when he went directly to the school to ask for more details, Nghia found that his academic record seemed to have no chance. Therefore, he was advised to focus more on the two methods of the capacity assessment exam and the high school graduation exam.

"I am very satisfied. The teachers explained everything very carefully. I also received many gifts from the school," Nghia said.

Can I study tourism if I'm not beautiful?

* I see that people working in the tourism and hotel industry are all beautiful girls. So, if you are not beautiful, can you still study hotel management? - A student at Go Cong Dong High School (Tien Giang)

- Master Tran Van Thang, Deputy Head of Admissions and Student Affairs at Saigon International University: "All students with normal appearance can study hotel management. You should not worry too much or feel pressured about your appearance. Because schools that train in tourism and hotels will have courses and requirements for students to have a brighter appearance every day.

For example, at Saigon International University, when studying hotel management, students are not only trained in knowledge and skills but also in how to dress, walk, and apply makeup... Upon graduation, they will meet the requirements of knowledge, skills, and appearance to be able to work well.

Foreign School: Surprised by the number of students attending the festival

Mr. Vu Quang Hai Minh, consultant representative for Alice International College (Japan), said this was the first time the unit participated in a large-scale consulting day. The number of students coming was beyond his expectation, and even more surprising was that it was already bustling from 6:30 am.

Dr. Tran Hien Hoa, head of the education department of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City, personally visited each consulting booth of Taiwanese universities in Ho Chi Minh City this time. He said that the schools all responded positively to the festival as more and more students were interested in the consulting booths of Taiwan.

"Most Taiwanese universities consider Vietnam an important market. Vietnam is currently the country that contributes the largest number of international students to Taiwan," said Mr. Hoa.
