Tien Giang is the province with the largest fruit growing area in the country with more than 70 thousand hectares and an annual output of over 1.8 million tons of various fruits. Among them, there are some specialty fruits such as: Hoa Loc mango, Co Co pomelo, Cai Lay durian, Lo Ren Vinh Kim star apple, etc. In recent years, fruits of Tien Giang province have gradually affirmed their brand and quality in domestic and foreign markets. Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee also always attaches importance to finding, developing and expanding markets, through trade promotion programs, building linkage chains, creating conditions for consumption of agricultural products of the province.
Mr. Pham Van Trong - Vice Chairman of Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee - said that this is the second time this event has been held in Tien Giang province to promote and introduce the richness and diversity of delicious fruits and specialties in Tien Giang province in particular and the whole Mekong Delta region as well as Vietnam in general.
Accordingly, processed fruit products and OCOP products of the Mekong Delta provinces and some northern provinces will also be introduced to a wide range of consumers. Thereby, creating a space to connect production and consumption of agricultural products, contributing to gradually affirming and enhancing the position of Vietnamese fruits in the domestic and international markets.
Also according to Mr. Pham Van Trong, on the basis of inheriting the success of last year's event, with the reminder to all Vietnamese families, on the occasion of the upcoming "Fifth Day, May" Festival, it is also the time when people across the country can enjoy the most delicious fruit gifts.
Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Olivier Langlet - General Director of Central Retail Vietnam - said that the Vietnam Fruit Festival 2023 opened today with the idea of combining the family cultural tradition on the occasion of "May 5th", with the ripe fruit season, from Bac Giang lychee, Son La plum from the North, down to the Mekong Delta with mangosteen, mango, durian... into a tradition that Central Retail Vietnam is proud to organize so that people can easily find and give to their family members.
“This year's event marks the first time that the provinces of the Mekong Delta have participated; and this is also the first time that Central Retail has simultaneously promoted fruit specialties across the entire Central Retail supermarket system nationwide - to create a big buzz, promote Vietnamese fruits more strongly, and create a new cultural feature - "Fruit Festival". We hope that during the 2023 Vietnam Fruit Festival , consumers shopping at GO!, Big C, and Tops Market supermarkets will actively support Vietnamese specialty fruit products to increasingly affirm their quality and brand reputation in the modern retail system", Mr. Olivier Langlet emphasized.
The Vietnam Fruit Festival event is also expected by the Organizing Committee to gradually upgrade to the "National Fruit Festival" event, organized annually by Central Retail, for all Vietnamese people.
