On the afternoon of May 21, Mr. Le Van Nhien, Head of the Management Board of Industrial Parks (IPs) of Ben Tre province, said that due to heavy rain and power outages, the water pump from the IP to the outside was not working, causing deep flooding of the roads in the IP, affecting the movement of workers.

According to the reporter, the same morning, heavy rain caused deep flooding of internal roads in Giao Long Industrial Park (Chau Thanh District, Ben Tre Province), forcing thousands of workers to wade through water to get to work. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, a worker working here, said: "Most of the motorbikes were more than half submerged. My motorbike died so I arrived at the company later than usual." Similarly, Mr. Le Van Long, a forklift driver, said that flooding in the industrial park often occurs, but this is the worst flooding ever.

According to Le Van Nhien, Head of the Ben Tre Industrial Zones Management Board, today's deep flooding was a rare incident, while the heavy and prolonged early-season rains caused the water pump from the industrial park to the outside to break down, causing the 116-hectare area in this industrial park to be heavily flooded. Many workers had their vehicles stalled, leaving them late for work compared to usual. However, by noon of the same day, the pump was back in operation, so there was no more flooding.
