(NLDO) - Vietnam is a country with a faster growth rate in the Korean industry than in other countries in the region.
On the morning of November 30, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-HCM) held a ceremony to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Korean Studies Department (1994-2024).
Sharing at the ceremony, Associate Professor - Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, principal of the school, said that the school's Korean Studies Department is considered one of the oldest Korean training units in Vietnam in particular and Southeast Asia in general.
In 2022, the faculty will open the first master's degree program in Korean Studies in the country. By 2024, the faculty will open the first bachelor's degree program in Korean Business and Commerce in the country, the first joint training program in the Ho Chi Minh City National University system. To date, the faculty has trained more than 3,500 bachelors.
"In the journey of strong development over the past 30 years, the faculty has made many efforts in expanding relationships and business cooperation, providing many scholarships for students; sending students to study, exchange and cultural exchange in Korea", Associate Professor - Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan said.
Sharing with students, Mr. Vu Ho, Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea, commented that the relationship between Vietnam and Korea is increasingly close and strong, with the important contribution of Korean studies.
"The knowledge learned at school is an important tool for students after graduation. If the tool is not sharp, it cannot be successful. Use all this time to hone your skills and knowledge of the industry well" - Mr. Vu Ho advised.
Director of the Central Institute of Korean Studies, Mr. Kim Nak Nyeon, highly appreciated the role and quality of Korean studies training of the school in the Southern region over the past 30 years. In particular, Vietnam is a country with a faster growth rate in the Korean industry than other countries in the region.
According to Mr. Kim Nak Nyeon, studying Korean Studies is not simply about learning about Korean literature and history, the field of study also extends to knowledge of science, art, technology... These things have brought the two countries closer together, thanks to which Korean Studies has also developed more strongly.
