On the afternoon of August 18, in Hanoi, an online conference was held to summarize the 2022-2023 school year and deploy the new 2023-2024 school year, organized by the Ministry of Education and Training.
Attending were Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and leaders of ministries, branches and central agencies.
Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that the 2022-2023 school year is a year with many difficulties and challenges for the Education and Training sector as the whole country continues to overcome and strive to overcome difficulties caused by the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, while at the same time consolidating and improving the quality of education and training activities.
This is the first school year that the Education sector has implemented the teaching of English and Information Technology according to the 2018 general education program for grade 3 and implemented the general education program for high school level.
"This school year also marks 10 years of the entire sector implementing Resolution 29 of the Party Central Committee on fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training; at the same time, it is also the time to evaluate the implementation of the 2018 General Education Program to serve the supervision work of the National Assembly Standing Committee on innovation of general education programs and textbooks," said Minister Nguyen Kim Son.

The work of universalizing education and eliminating illiteracy continues to be consolidated and maintained with improved component indicators. The quality of general education, both general and advanced, continues to improve, and is recognized and highly appreciated internationally; candidates participating in regional and international Olympic competitions achieve high results.
Successfully organize the 2023 high school graduation exam to ensure seriousness, safety, and objectivity; provide data for universities and vocational education institutions to use for enrollment.

The Minister said: "The team of teachers, lecturers and education managers has developed in both quantity and quality; the situation of surplus and shortage of teachers has been overcome with many solutions. Autonomy of higher education has gradually gone into depth, associated with the implementation of accountability, publicity and transparency of information according to regulations. Scientific and technological activities and innovation continue to be promoted"...
However, according to Mr. Son, the implementation of the 2022-2023 school year plan still has some difficulties, shortcomings, and limitations. Specifically, such as the shortage of teachers, the shortage of schools, and overload at schools in many large cities and densely populated areas.
"Support, psychological counseling, skills, and prevention of violence and abuse against children and students are still not really effective. School violence and food insecurity in schools still occur, causing public outrage. At the same time, there are still many other challenges and difficulties that need to be identified and appropriate solutions to overcome in the near future," the head of the education sector emphasized.
