The 7km Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway Eastern Branch through Dong Nai Province will be put into operation at the end of this year. This is one of two sections of the project that will be temporarily put into operation this year.
This section of the highway belongs to package A7 and part of package A6, passing through the mangrove forests of Phuoc An commune (Nhon Trach district) and Phuoc Thai (Long Thanh), providing beautiful scenery.
This expressway starts at the intersection of the road leading to Phuoc An port (Nhon Trach district) and ends at the intersection of National Highway 51 (Long Thanh district). This is a vital route to help transport goods when Phuoc An port comes into operation.
In mid-November, at the Ben Luc – Long Thanh expressway construction site, workers are rushing to complete the final items before the opening day.
The speed limit signs have been installed. This section of the highway has a maximum speed of 100km/h and a minimum speed of 60km/h.
The Thi Vai River overpass on the highway has been completed and is ready for traffic. The 3.3km Thi Vai bridge is the most difficult item of the A7 package with a total investment of over VND1,100 billion.
The remaining packages through Dong Nai province are still being constructed urgently to connect the expressway smoothly in 2025.
At the construction site, the construction unit mobilized maximum machinery and manpower to speed up the progress of the expressway section through Nhon Trach district. Many workers worked through lunch and holidays to ensure the project's progress.
The expressway section from the intersection of National Highway 51 to the intersection of the road leading to Phuoc An port helps connect industrial parks in Long Thanh, Phu My, Chau Duc districts with the largest port in Dong Nai, contributing to promoting trade and economic development in the Southeast region.
Mr. Dang Huu Vi, Director of the Southern Expressway Project Management Board, said that the unit is striving to open the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway's eastern branch through Dong Nai province to technical traffic by the end of the year.
After the eastern branch opens to traffic, the expressway will connect from Highway 51 to the Phuoc An Port entrance intersection. The section from Highway 1 to Nguyen Van Tao intersection will also be temporarily opened to traffic at the end of 2024. The entire route is expected to be completed in 2025.
The intersection area and the access road to Highway 51 are being accelerated for construction, determined to be completed in November. This is an important intersection with a high density of intersections.
The Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway project is 57.8km long, passing through Long An province, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province. The total investment is 31,320 billion VND, using loans from ADB, JICA and domestic counterpart capital.
The 28.7km-long Ben Luc – Long Thanh Eastern Expressway plays an important role in connecting the southwestern provinces with Dong Nai and Ba Ria – Vung Tau provinces, especially connecting Long Thanh airport to the western provinces.
