Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russian air defense forces successfully neutralized all UAVs aimed at Moscow this morning, July 24.

“All drones have been disabled today and measures are being taken. As for the development of the defense system, ensuring its deeper operation, the Defense Ministry will answer this question,” Peskov said.

Asked about possible retaliation for the attack, Mr Peskov reiterated that Moscow would continue its “special military operation” in Ukraine.

“The special military operation is ongoing, it will continue and its goals must be achieved,” Mr. Peskov added.

Previously, on July 23, the Ukrainian air force accused Moscow of launching 19 missiles from land, air and sea into the Black Sea port of Odessa at night, of which 9 were shot down, according to AFP.

After the attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky vowed to retaliate against Russian forces: "Missiles were fired at peaceful cities, against residential buildings, a large church. There will definitely be retaliation against Russian terrorists for Odessa. They will feel this retaliation."

On the morning of July 24, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said a drone attack had occurred near the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense in Moscow, in a non-residential area.

There were no immediate reports of casualties, but emergency services were at the scene. Several videos circulating online showed police cars and ambulances at the scene, RT reported.

The Department of Transport said traffic in the area was partially restricted, advising people to plan detours.
