In an interview with the Izvestia news agency, Lavrov stated: "Obviously, to carry out such an attack, the order must come from the highest levels of the West, that is, Washington."
RIA news agency also quoted Mr. Oleg Tyapkin, Director of the Third European Department (Russian Foreign Ministry) as saying that Moscow has filed a lawsuit against Germany and related countries for not fully fulfilling their obligations under the UN anti-terrorism convention in the investigation of the Nord Stream pipeline explosion.
* On the same day, the German Foreign Ministry announced that it was in contact with Russia about the Nord Stream gas pipeline explosion that occurred in 2022.
Europe's largest economy is ready to exchange information with Moscow, but this must ensure it does not affect the ongoing investigation.
At the press conference, the German Foreign Ministry spokesman affirmed: "The investigation into the explosion has not ended and there is no official report of results yet."
Germany also rejected Russian complaints about its investigation.
The Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines transporting gas under the Baltic Sea were ruptured in a series of explosions in September 2022.
The explosions affected three of the four Nord Stream pipelines.
Germany, Denmark and Sweden launched investigations, with Sweden finding traces of explosives on several objects recovered from the scene, confirming the explosions were deliberate.
Sweden and Denmark closed their investigations in February this year, but without identifying any suspects.
