*US returns hundreds of millions of dollars to Malaysia: The US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has just confirmed the return to Malaysia of about 156 million dollars lost from the Malaysian State Investment Fund (1MDB).

This is the fourth amount recovered from the seizure of assets related to Malaysia’s state investment sector. To date, Washington has been able to recover and assist in the recovery and return of approximately $1.4 billion in embezzled funds from Malaysia.

1MDB is an investment fund established in 2009 with the help of financier Low Taek Jho to promote socio-economic development in Malaysia. The Philippines has repeatedly accused China of dangerous behaviour, including firing water cannons and ramming its vessels to impede the operations of the Philippine Coast Guard.
