One of them bore the logo of the Azov battalion, a terrorist organization banned in Russia."

Earlier, on August 5, a Ukrainian UAV dropped an explosive device on the town of Rylsk, Kursk province, damaging the windows of a church and two administrative buildings. No local residents were injured.

On August 2, 2022, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation ruled that the Ukrainian nationalist battalion “Azov” is considered a terrorist organization and is banned from operating in Russia.

* Ukraine arrests female suspect plotting to attack Mr. Zelensky : On August 7, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced that it had arrested a secret agent accused of plotting to attack Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky when he visited a flood-hit area.

Accordingly, this person was arrested while collecting intelligence information to find out President Zelensky's route before he visited Mykolaiv province in southern Ukraine.

The SBU released a blurred image of the woman being detained by masked officers in the kitchen, as well as a number of phone messages and handwritten notes about the military operation.

According to the SBU, Ukraine knew about the plot in advance and took additional security measures during Mr. Zelensky's visit.

The agency also accused the suspect of helping Russia prepare for a “massive airstrike on Mykolaiv.” Specifically, the woman was said to have sought data on the locations of electronic warfare systems and ammunition depots.

Caught trying to pass intelligence data to Russian secret services, the suspect could face charges of illegally disseminating information about troop and weapon movements. If convicted, she could face up to 12 years in prison. (AFP)

* Ukraine: German Parliament reaches consensus on sending long-range missiles to Kiev , what does the US say?: On August 7, writing on Facebook , Yehor Chernev, the parliamentarian leading the Ukrainian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), stated: "My friends in the Bundestag have just told me that key factions in parliament have reached a consensus on the transfer of Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine...

We have been working for a long time with German parliamentarians to set up a support group and the ice has finally broken. We are waiting for an official decision.”

Last week, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said Berlin had no plans to supply the Taurus missile, which has a range of up to 500km, at the moment and that the weapon was not the most urgent priority.

Immediately after Kiev's statement, the ministry's spokesman affirmed that Berlin's stance has not changed.

In related news, during a phone call with his US counterpart Antony Blinken, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba also emphasized the need for long-range ATACMS missiles.

“We discussed the next steps to expand global support for the Peace Formula and options for expanding grain exports. I also thanked the United States for its support and stressed the need to strengthen Ukraine’s long-range capabilities with ATACMS missiles,” Kuleba said.

Previously, Kiev said that ATACMS, with a range of up to 400km, was essential for attacking command posts and logistics areas in the rear of Russian forces.

Speaking last month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky assessed: “Without long-range weapons, it is very difficult to carry out an offensive mission or conduct a defensive operation.”
