The two sides "discussed progress in implementing the agreements reached after the NATO-Ukraine Summit in Washington, in particular on air defense supplies, as well as implementation of the JATEC and NSATU projects."
The head of the NATO Representative Office in Kiev noted significant progress in reforming the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
With NATO opening a Representative Office in Kiev, Ukraine will move “a little closer” to NATO.
The decision to open a Representative Office was made in the summer of 2024, after the NATO-Ukraine Council Meeting at the highest level within the framework of the alliance's Summit in Washington.
Mr. Patrick Turner was assistant for operations, defense policy and policy planning to former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
“In his role, Mr. Turner will be the coordinator of cooperation between NATO and the Kiev government. He will also coordinate NATO efforts and provide the alliance with assessments and recommendations on the situation in Ukraine,” NATO said in a statement.
Earlier, at the NATO-Ukraine Summit in Washington on July 11, the military alliance agreed to allocate 40 billion euros to Ukraine in 2025. In addition, Kiev's further financial obligations will also be discussed at the next Summit in the Netherlands in June 2025.
In addition, NATO will consult on the development and deployment of Ukraine's air and missile defense architecture.
