In recent years, the movement of "Repaying gratitude" to care for people with revolutionary contributions carried out by Phu Ninh district has increasingly gone into depth, spread strongly, and created positive effects in the community.
Phu Tho Newspaper reporter had a conversation with comrade Trinh Duc Lai - Member of the District Party Committee, Vice Chairman of Phu Ninh District People's Committee about the noble gestures showing the responsibility and affection of the Party Committee, government, and social community in implementing the traditional morality of gratitude of the nation, taking care of the material and spiritual life of wounded soldiers, families of martyrs, and people with meritorious services to the revolution in the area.

Reporter: Could you please tell us how many meritorious people and policy families are currently enjoying preferential policies of the State in the district?
Comrade Trinh Duc Lai: Through the resistance wars against France and the US and the construction and protection of the Fatherland, the whole district has over 10,000 people who have contributed to the revolution, including 1,369 martyrs, 100 Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, 11 veteran revolutionary cadres, 22 Pre-uprising cadres, 3 Heroes of the People's Armed Forces...
Currently, the whole district has 1,975 beneficiaries of monthly allowances, including 1 Vietnamese Heroic Mother, 1 Hero of the People's Armed Forces, 733 war invalids, people enjoying policies like war invalids, 275 sick soldiers, 33 servicemen, 451 resistance fighters and their children infected with toxic chemicals, 436 beneficiaries of death benefits, 11 resistance fighters imprisoned by the enemy, 34 discharged soldiers and policemen.
Reporter: “Repaying gratitude” is a demonstration of the responsibility, affection, and deep concern of the entire Party and people towards heroic martyrs, revolutionary veterans, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, war invalids, sick soldiers, families of martyrs, and people with meritorious services to the revolution. Could you tell us about the outstanding results in implementing the “Repaying gratitude” movement of the district in recent times?
Comrade Trinh Duc Lai: Over the years, the work of "Repaying gratitude" has always received the attention, leadership and direction of the Party Committee and the government, the responsible coordination of departments, branches, organizations and people of all walks of life, has increasingly gone into depth and achieved encouraging results, with profound humanistic significance, contributing to further strengthening the people's trust in the Party, the State, Party Committees and governments at all levels in the district.
Every year, Phu Ninh district always promotes propaganda work, develops a plan to direct all levels, sectors, agencies and units to effectively implement the State management of social policies, especially the implementation of the Ordinance on People with Merits, directives of ministries, sectors, the Central Government and the province on gratitude policies.
Therefore, the implementation of policies for people with meritorious services is always ensured to be serious, complete, thoughtful and timely. Activities of gratitude and care for people with meritorious services have truly become a widespread movement among all classes of people, political and social organizations, all levels, sectors and localities in the district with many forms of organization, many specific, practical, extremely rich and creative actions, becoming a beauty in social life.
Many agencies, businesses, and philanthropists have joined the movement of "Repaying gratitude" to support Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and care for wounded and sick soldiers. Currently, families with meritorious services and people with meritorious services in the area have a standard of living equal to or higher than the average standard of living of local residents. Reporter: Along with fully, thoughtfully and promptly implementing the general policies of the State, what other activities does the locality have to show gratitude to people with meritorious services and policy families in the area?
Comrade Trinh Duc Lai: Along with focusing on implementing the State's general policies, Phu Ninh also always pays attention to socialization in the work of Gratitude.
Every year, on the occasion of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27), holidays and Tet, the district organizes visits, encouragement and gifts for social policy beneficiaries, people with meritorious services to the revolution, and the Phu Tho Provincial Nursing Center for Meritorious Services.
Every year, the district organizes visits and presents nearly 14,000 gifts, worth over 3 billion VND. Communes and towns coordinate to organize meetings and pay tribute to families of policy beneficiaries and organizations that have spent thousands of working days taking care of, repairing, and cleaning cemeteries and martyrs' monuments. Organize incense offering, flower offering, and candle lighting to pay tribute at the district's heroic martyrs' memorial and cemeteries in the area.
Agencies, businesses, and philanthropists have given many gifts to families of meritorious people, supported the construction and repair of houses of gratitude. In 2023, social work supported 3 houses of gratitude with an amount of 111 million VND; in 2024, supported 3 houses of gratitude with an amount of 290 million VND.
Along with that, the district has mobilized thousands of working days to take care of, repair, and clean up cemeteries and martyrs' steles; regularly repair and upgrade the District's Martyrs' Memorial and Chan Mong - Tram Than Campaign Cemetery with a value of over 200 million VND.
The district also organized delegations to visit heroic martyrs at martyrs' cemeteries inside and outside the province (in 2023, visiting heroic martyrs at Hon Dung Martyrs' Cemetery, Gac Ma Soldiers' Memorial Area, Khanh Hoa province; in 2024, visiting heroic martyrs at A1 National Martyrs' Cemetery, Dien Bien province, Lam Dong Province Martyrs' Cemetery)...
Reporter: In the coming time, what tasks will Phu Ninh district continue to carry out to make the work of gratitude more effective and practical?
Comrade Trinh Duc Lai: In the coming time, to effectively implement preferential policies for people with meritorious services, Phu Ninh district will continue to focus on promoting and disseminating the Party's policies and the State's laws and policies on preferential policies for people with meritorious services.
At the same time, widely launch the movement "Repaying gratitude" for the whole people to take care of those who have contributed; educate the younger generation about revolutionary traditions, the awareness of training, striving to contribute to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. Continue to care, help, visit, and give gifts to families with meritorious services; regularly repair, renovate, and upgrade works honoring meritorious services; historical and cultural relics in the district.
